“Not to be missed”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

If you have not eaten at Splinters yet you have missed out. My wife and i have enjoyed a number of meals there over the past 6 years and have not been disappointed yet.

I must tell the world that even the canapes are to die for ( especially the lamb ones Yum).

The choice of wines is great and reasonably priced.

Go there before its to late.

Thank you for reviewing us. It's nice to hear that after six years we're still reaching your expectations, I hope we continue to do so for many more! The canapes are an extra special touch hear at Splinters and we try to vary them as often as possible. I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

“Unexpected gem”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

We stumbled into Splinters more to get out of the cold wind than anything else but oh what a find. Pristine, quirky rooms, personable, attentive staff, seriously delicious food at reasonable prices. Even the house wines were special. I rarely travel to Christchurch but I'll look forward to visiting Splinters again when I can.

“For a special occasion”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

We visited Splinters on Valentines evening for their set menu, which did allow some choice. The restaurant is situated near the priory in Christchurch and whilst not boasting stupendous views, is nevertheless cosy and intimate, with its small, tastefully decorated rooms giving out on to the cobbled street.
On arrival we received champagne and canapes while we made our choices. We were served by a number of waiting staff but all were very pleasant and solicitous. The starters [pork belly and scallops/pea and goat's cheese tart] were nicely presented and delicious. We both opted for lamb-not an enormous meal but about right in terms of amount. The accompanying vegetables were very well cooked-neither too little nor too much. Pudding was a tasting platter of 6 items-perhaps a little 'over the top'. An alternative of a cheese plate might have been a good idea.
We chose a Merlot from the wine menu, which was very nice. Coffee came with hand made chocolates, a pleasing touch.
All in all this was a lovely meal, although at the price [£120] that is what I would expect!

“A restuarant not to be missed”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

This is a jewel waiting to be found in the centre of Christchurch. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the dining area is split into small private dining rooms, and a "booth" section which is a little more communal.
A small but varied menu specialising in local produce which is expertly cooked and very well presented backed up by a good selection of wines and a friendly waiting staff. I had a fillet steak which was a very good proportion and cooked to perfection !
Everythng on the menu was of a good size and very very good value for money.
