“Not good”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014

Perhaps it is a little petty to review a place based on a lunch of baguettes but they were so bad and the staff so disinterested in our comments that I'm going ahead anyway. Five of us ate here yesterday, the pulled pork baguette consisted of what looked like meat paste and had no flavour other than a faint taste of mustard. My bacon and brie baguette had a rasher and a half of bacon and two small slivers of brie that only half filled it, the barbeque beef again had a paste like filling that was just unpleasant. These were £6.25 each and came with a small handful of limp leaves. You can get a decent meal around here for not much more than this. When we were asked if everything was ok by the guy serving, two of us said that it wasn't and we were told our comments would be passed onto the chef. So that's alright then.

“Needs improvement”

Starting this visit with an electric shock was one thing, seeing that it was a damaged fitting that had electrical tape holding it on, at shoulder high, and had just been hidden by a curtain was another, but the worst was the staff member who seemed annoyed at me for bringing it up! Fortunately a second member of staff at the bar actually did something about it and switched the power to it off! This was not the only danger there, and I wouldn't think of myself being overly concerned about health and safety, the food was average, and price didn't show any real value. Potential to be brilliant, lovely place, but it seems there is a lack of caring!

“Satisfied Customer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013

We visited as a family party of seven for a Saturday lunch and were seated next to a homely log fire. Good choice of food on the menu, which when it arrived was clearly freshly cooked. The duck with noodles was delicious as was the steak & ale pie with home-made pastry. The staff were attentive and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return. For a special occasion they have a fantastic 'Pulman' railway carriage which is used for breakfast and Themed Murder Mystery nights, sounds great.

“Will not be going back!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2013 via mobile

Visited last night for a meal with friends and our daughter. Although the staff were friendly enough and they found us a nice table, the food was not good! I had to send my meal back because the egg was solid but worse than that was the ham was sour! Another plate was brought and the ham was still off. The menu claims it's home cooked honey roasted ham but that's not true... it was so thinl sliced and so obviously Tesco Finest! Maybe the poor food is the reason it was so quiet for a Saturday night! If they hadn't had a function going on in the carriage, there wouldn't have been anyone there! We will not be going there again.

“disappointing carvery”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2013

We visited twice in the week, initially midweek within a group of eight, when the food was of a good standard and enjoyed by everyone. We returned as a couple the following Sunday, to try the carvery which we saw advertised on our first visit. Very disappointed. Admitted it was late afternoon and the carvery is only served until 6pm, but everything looked tired and had obviously been standing for some time in the serving dishes. For £9.95 it was a disgrace. I suggest driving a couple of miles down the spur road to the Toby carvery at Cooper Dean; it will be cheaper and much fresher. The establishment is tidy, clean and has a good range of cask ales, but I can understand why the restaurant was not busy. Although the food was good on our first visit, the menu choice was not huge, but acceptable, but the prices are top end pub rates. Fine if the quality is consistent, but Wadworth's need to try at bit harder on this one. Difficult to recommend as there are pubs a lot nearer the towns of Christchurch and Bournemouth that offer a lot more for much less.
