My wife and I stayed here for two days last December. There seems to be two sections to the hotel, the original part and a new annex with rooms and the pool. The car park is outside the new part which you then have to walk through and across an open quadrangle to reach reception. We had no trouble parking but there was a shortage of space later on. Apparently the gate has to be put down at times to discourage people who are just using it as a public carpark. If you go outside through the old part you are in the town centre. Reception was pleasant and efficient. We were given a very nice room at the top of the new block. It was beautifully clean and very comfortable including the lovely big bed. We didn't see a lift but managed OK. We took breakfast on both mornings and it was perfectly satisfactory. The restaurant was not open in the evenings at that time so we walk to somewhere nearby to eat. We did not make use of the spa but it did look very inviting and I saw a number of people in there from time to time.
I managed to lock myself out of the room on one occasion but the staff were very helpful.
We would certainly use this hotel again without hesitation should the need arise.

Room Tip: If you don't mind being on the top floor, our room was very quiet with a good view of the town.

I am hopefully providing a fair review. Firstly the staff were all friendly and helpful. However, the service in the bar and restaurant could have been better with delays and some confusion, probably due to there being no manager.. we were offered the sweet menu on both nights of our stay before we had been served the drinks and main course we had just ordered and we waited at least quarter of an hour for our bottle of wine to arrive. The food, however, was good and the menu offered a good choice of starters/ main courses though the pudding menu basically revolved around various ice cream based dishes and could be improved. The lounge/bar area worked well and was comfortable. The bar prices were good for an hotel. The afternoon tea and cake was very good. The bed in the executive room was a very old zip and link which had huge dips in the middle of each single and it was impossible to sleep anywhere near the middle which would have been extremely uncomfortable in any event! These beds are pointless, they may as well be left as 2 singles and give up on the pretence they are anything other than that. They are of benefit only to the hotel to allow them to say they are offering a "king size" bed and not to the guests who actually get what is effectively 2 singles pushed together - nothing more! The bed (s) in our room need to be replaced; I had 2 of the worst nights sleep I've had in any hotel which is a shame because otherwise the stay would have been much more pleasant. We didn't use the leisure facilities but the pool looked very nice and inviting. Overall a pleasant hotel with a nice ambiance and friendly staff with the right attitude. The management just need to attend to the bed situation which of course may well be limited to our room, we have no way of knowing and put someone in charge of the restaurant and bar to provide a little organisation to that area. We paid half price under the winter deal so you need to be aware my review is based upon £61 per night for two people, including breakfast (which was good). Had we paid the full advertised price I imagine we would have been requesting a change to our accommodation and this review would be very different!

An smart comfortable hotel with ample parking and excellent restaurant. The staff were efficient and helpful and there was a very good pool. The hotel has a modern annex at the rear which is tastefully blended to the rest of the site and with its's central location in the town it is near all the amenities.

OK, it looks good at first but when you see the detail I'm not so sure - you decide.

Plus points
Great bed/linen and furniture and good standard of TV
All the usual trimmings , hairdrier, drinks facilities

Bad points
I had to run the tap and shower for at least 5 minutes and even then the water was only tepid

The shower is a joke - the water rate is so slow the tap mixer keeps switching to bath instead of shower as doesn't have sufficient water flow.

The taps on the basin are ugly and so old they need replacing - also one dripped all night

They didn't have my favourite beer Caffreys as the tap didn't work

The Carlsberg and Grolsch were really flat - are they poorly kept or old stock?

The reception area is too small and seems to be an after thought as opposed to a welcoming area - the attendant was too busy Googling in the outer office to attend the desk and I had to call him after waiting 5 minutes.

Not worth £105 without breakfast in my view.

It needs better management to really make it top notch.

We booked a two nights bargain break on a 'non-cancellable' basis for February, but the extreme wet weather caused us to cancel. Absolutely unsolicited, Suzanne offered to carry our booking through to any other weekend in February or March. Great service in itself!
Our stay was brilliant, the room was large and comfortable, the staff very friendly and professional, and the meals excellent. On the experience of our stay, we would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Angle is generally a good hotel but it lacks that little attention to detail. We booked in for one night to be in Chippenham to see family. The room was fine and the reception staff was polite and helpful. The letdown was the restaurant staff.

At breakfast they were slow to serve and clear. One of the male members of staff clearly didn't want to be there. They seemed to be no table allocation system so the staff were tripping over themselves and therefore often missed people coming in. This is forgivable once, but the same happened when our party of nine sat down for Sunday Lunch. The service was slow and the waitress failed to remember some important requests. It could be that they are a new young team, but it did spoil our stay and family get together.

Room Tip: Check the free wifi is working and speak to reception if it's not.
