“Double booked us and unhelpful about it”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2009

We booked a fantastic late deal to visit this hotel for the bank holiday. Having paid for it alreadu, we were informed a couple of days before the trip that there was an exclusive wedding on both Friday and Saturday and therefore our rooms were not available. This was due to us having booked "while we were updating our systems" - as if they didn't know there'd be a wedding on so close to the actual date! We were not offered any assistance in trying to obtain a refund or anywhere else to stay and had to work it all out via lastminute.com, which caused us untold stress - we didn't actually find anywhere till the day before our holiday!

I'm sure it is a very nice place to stay, but the attitude of the staff in rectifying (or not) their error has put me off for good! We ended up staying in a lovely, friendly hotel not too far away.

We went to the U2 concert in Cardiff and were unable to get accomodation close to Cardiff but when we arrived in the early afternoon, we were fortunate to be able to check in early and relax for a while before needing to head off again. The location was fantastic - only a few minutes off the M4 however well sheltered from any motorway noise and in a lovely village. The hotel is lovely amd is set in tranquil, pictureque gardens. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, both on the phone and in person. The room was clean and spacious, the bathroom clean and modern with a good shower over the bath, and the bed was very comfortable. Our breakfast was also great. We couldn't fault anything and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Booked as a last minute weekend break to get away from it all....fat chance with a wedding party and a disco until midnight !! Cold and uninterested welcome upon arrival.Simply took my name and told "Room down there on the left".Plenty of staff but unable to identify who was the manager.Seemed to be run by 18 year olds trying their best. Room was clean and functional.Pleasant breakfast. When we left it was a simple case of "No charges.Goodbye".I guess what I am trying to say is that this hotel could be so much better but is let down by poor customer care. . .oh and cleaners chatting outside your room at 0830 on a Sunday morning. If you are expecting something special you will be disappointed.

En route to Chippenham centre for the following morning - Stanton Manor Hotel was an excellent stopover. The room was clean, large and looked out over the gardens. Breakfast was excellent and the service was very good.

Our group of 6 ( mtce engineers) made to feel as though we shouldnt have been there. One example , one asked for coffee with his breakast only to be told "there's already a pot on your table" despite the fact it had been there a good 20 minutes for another member of our group.
One evening because there was a function outside we were presented with a choice of serve yourself "lasagne or fish pie" . When asked if there were other options from the menu we got a direct No .

Lovely hotel, shocking attitude unless you were spending on champagne.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2009

My husband and I just spent the weekend at the Stanton Manor and we loved the place. The hotel is pretty small and cosy, the room we were given was very spacious with a big - although dated - bathroom.
We had dinner at the restaurant with my husband's parents and we all loved the food. I found the starter a bit small - although very nice & tasty - but the main course made up for it, big suculent portion of lamb shank. The desert was also excellent. We were all very happy with the meal and the bill was very reasonable.
We had a good night sleep since the bed was very comfortable and the hotel very quiet, not a noise till we woke up at 9am!
Breakfast was also excellent, good choice and very well cooked.
When we checked out, since it was sunny, we had a walk around the gardens, they're beautiful and very well kept.
Really nice small hotel for a quiet relaxing weekend.
Looking forward to coming back!

Just returned from a 3 night break cannot fault this lovely quaint manor house to recharge your batteries booked through late rooms had a great time from good food to very friendly staff in particular Istvan the duty manager he even googled places of interest for us including charming Castle Coombe and La Cock villages. Double room was spacious and newly refurbished including tea and coffee facilities even bottled mineral water. Full english breakfast (included in price)and a superb evening menu at reasonable price recommend the roast duck with red cabbage .The grounds are spacious and well kept although close to the M4 felt as if you were in the contryside very quiet a great place to chill out and explore - dont miss Malmsburt and Tetbury they are both well worth a visit.
