My family of 5 and I went last night 15/6 early in the evening and had a superb dinner, we all had steaks, 2 choose to cook their own and the rest decided to have them char grilled by the chef. The steaks came on there own plate, separate salad and large grilled beef tomato and mushroom on another plate, the onion rings and chips on another, very good idea so you can eat or leave what you want, not all served on same plate. The steaks that we had grilled were excellent, every one had a different type. The one's served on the lava stone where you cook them yourself were also very good. The lave stone was still very hot well after we had finished, nice to know if you are a slow eater. The surroundings are very pleasant, staff very helpfull and good service.

quiet pub which didn't bode well , food okish if dated...chicken wings were obviously frozen as served still cold ...steak was ok but then you cook it yourself so cant go wrong, salad plain , staff were good apart from the owner who sounds like he drinks more than the customers and rude...mind you there are no bar customers...thought I would give it a second try only to find it closed at lunchtime....generally looks like someone has lost interest going by the abundance of cigarette butts in pots out front

Had a superb stay at The Crown Inn and was very impressed with the outstanding service. The Landlord and Landlady were very friendly and welcoming and worked hard to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The staff were very polite and helpful, the rooms were very clean, bed was comfortable and food was amazing. I'd recommend the Steak as It's like no other steak i've had. The choice is yours, whether you'd like the chef to cook the steak to your liking or whether you'd like to cook it yourself on a special heated stone. Definitely got a bargain here and will be revisiting soon! Highly recommended!

A little gem, with good sized rooms and a quirky feel to them as they look like they were originally horse stalls. The Crown Inn is also very good to eat at with quality breakfast available and evening meals which are first class. The outside of the Crown is very off putting but the inside is great. Only 20 minutes from Bath. Ask for a room away from the main road. A great find on our 16 day tour of England.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road.

Stay at the Crown Inn over the weekend..there are 5 rooms in a small courtyard..our room was really nice & clean..the shower was excellent.
On our first night we ate in the pub..they have two menu's , a steak one & a small varied one, we opted for the steak which had various weights of meat to choose from..our meal was excellent & cooked to our tastes..the pub it's self as lots of small rooms which gives it lots off character.
I believe the landlord has only been in the pub since January , so it's worth giving the place a chance.

We met the new owners David and Anne a lovely couple, we went there for a meal with my family and had steak on the stone it's a fantastic idea as you can cook your steak just the way you like it. We have also been back to have the Sunday roast, again fantastic. On the second visit we stayed in the bed and breakfast, again breakfast excellent and the rooms clean and tidy. I highly recommend and will visit again. Tracy & Martyn from Nailsworth Stroud.
