“Be careful booking online!”

We booked an overnighter in this hotel way back in January with booking.com for a Saturday night in July en route home from Cornwall. We arrived at 7pm and had made a dinner reservation the night before. However, despite having our dinner reservation they had double booked our room and given it to another family. Having had the room booked for 6 months we were slightly alarmed. They did apologise and rang around the area to try and get a room or two for our family and offered to pay. We chose to just have dinner and head off back home. They gave us a free meal ( which was delicious) and were apologetic. They also called the following morning to see if we'd got home ok.
We are sad to have missed a night here as the food was divine and the place looked lovely. Lesson learnt- don't trust websites such as booking.com ...and also hotels should double check their bookings. Our kids were really disappointed to miss the proposed trip to Stonehenge en route home and my husband ended up with a very long and trying day of driving.

We stayed at Bickley Mill for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. The bottled water in the room was a great touch. We had lunch and 2 breakfasts and the food was good. Lovely bread! We really enjoyed our stay and decided that Bickley Mill is a hidden gem. We will be back,

We are getting married in October of this year, and have booked Bickley Mill on the strength of its own website and reviews we had read. We were in Devon anyway (we live in N Yorks) and took the opportunity to stay at Bickley Mill for a few nights. We were not disappointed. The venue is excellent, with ample parking. The staff are extremely professional, whilst still being friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are very clean and tidy, (we even had a bath...a welcome sight in these days of shower cubicles). The bed was very comfy, and the room was well equipped, with a daily maid service. We ate in the hotel every morning and evening, and the food never failed to delight. We varied our breakfasts from full English to a simple omelette all of which were perfectly cooked. Dinner ranged from sea bass to local ham and and eggs (all food is sourced locally wherever possible) along with some wonderful sweets. We couldn't fault any of them. Add into this the delights of Thatchers cider which we discovered for the first time in the hottest week of the year and a very friendly cat who kept us company as we sat outside on the decking in the lovely gardens. Exit two extremely satisfied, though somewhat heavier guests. We have definitely made the right choice for our wedding venue, and we definitely made the right choice of a place to stay for a few nights. Use this Inn without hesitation.

Room Tip: At the moment, due to the new bypass being built for Torbay, there is some infrequent road noise to...

We have just returned home after our daughter's wedding on Babbacombe Cliff Railwy. We spent the night before the wedding at the Mill, which was excellent with a good evening meal with our family. The wedding reception was extremely good - from the Pimms and Canapes, the barbeque, the evening sandwiches and chips, to the breakfast the morning after.

The staff were polite and friendly and extremely hard working. All in all, a memorable occasion.

Room Tip: Ask for the Riviera room if you want to be spoiled!

We stayed at the Mill for two nights whilst visiting friends in Abbotts Kerswell. The Hotel was an ideal location for our visit and access to to the many local attractions. The service offered by the hotel was first-class throughout and excellent value for money. We will certainly recommend it to all our friends and hope to be back soon. James C
