We chose this to use a voucher we were given and a great choice it was. We were in Dartmoor View apartment which a few steps down from the entrance had a well equipped kitchen with kitchen table and doors, and door which led outside housing two friendly goats. A few steps up from the entrance was the living room with sofas, tv, piano and a lovely view. Another few steps up was a double bedroom, single bedroom and bathroom. The restaurant was just a few steps across the yard. We decided to eat in the restaurant and had a drink in front of the log fire whilst we waited to be called in. Chose the special menu which was a great choice and value for money, including a glass of wine (we had to remind staff about the wine but not a problem). Breakfast was a choice of cereals/yogurts/marmalade (no jam)/croissants and a lovely full cooked breakfast, freshly cooked, served by staff who couldn't do enough for you. We loved Sampson's farm and staff - thank you.

We can only apologise that you did not enjoy your lunch with us. We have taken your comments on board and have liased with the kitchen staff on how we can improve things. Also we have plans to re- decorate the restaurant in the new year which is exciting as the bedrooms we have done over the summer look lovely. If you would like to contact us we would like to send you a voucher for a cream tea so that we could welcome you back.

This really is a special place. It warm, cosy and welcoming with lovely food and service. the £25 for 2 courses and a glass of wine and coffee - it is just excellent value - quality is not compromised. If you don't enjoy an evening at Sampsons I will eat my hat! I am coming back again and again

found this just by accident, hopefully the new road layout wont affect business to much. Only called in for lunch but made very wlcome , chose to sit in the lounge by the open fire. Lovely, slightly quirky set up. Very much recommended

My wife and I found this a great base for a short walking holiday. It is right next to the Templer Way which follows the route of the tramway / canal used for transporting granite and china clay from Haytor to Teignmouth in times gone by, also taking in Stover Country Park. The hotel itself is full of character and the food and staff great as mentioned by other reviewers.
