“2nd Visit”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Second time I have stayed here in the last 2 months. It was the same nice warm feeling when we checked in. Room was the same which we requested, so very pleased. It was clean and tidy, sadly the cobwebs were still there though. The fireside room was as inviting and nicely puffed cushions and food standard was the same although the meal choice was the same on both nights never the less it was tasty. Staff were helpful and happy and have local knowledge which I found helpful.

The staff at the hotel were so accommodating and friendly. The cottage itself is lovely with old beams, and a really authentic 'historic' feel to it. The room was small but perfectly sufficient for our needs. The meals served in the evenings have generous portions and the options for breakfast are great. We were greeted in the car park by chickens, ducks and Pygmy goats!!! Really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed her for two nights on a KGB break. This was just a bit different, we stayed in one of the rooms in converted barn. The room was very nice and we loved to look out of the window to see chickens and two long haired goats. The staff were really friendly and it was very relaxing. The main hotel was quite unusual, but very comfortable. The food was excellent, fine dining, but quite expensive. We would like to stay here again.

Stayed here on a offer for 3 nights, so a good price and well worth the cost. The room was small but cosy, the whole place was similar, with a lovely country feel, and the staff friendly and helpful. Food was good, with ample breakfast and nice dinners, but the price without a deal was rather expensive and not worth the quality.
Bit disappointed that they didn't have a lunch sitting, although they did rustle up a sandwich for me. Shame as I was looking forward to the non existent afternoon tea, but it may be I visited out of season.
Would come back on an offer but would not pay full price.

A warm welcome, cosy atmosphere, attentive staff and wonderful food made this stay a very enjoyable one. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well positioned for visiting Devon. Would thoroughly recommend!

Stayed two nights with large dog. Everyone so friendly and helpful. Will go again. Booked a room and were given two bed flat. Clean, well presented, homely and comfortable. Don't expect posh. Food home cooked to a high standard and the chef attended thoughtfully and keenly to anyone's individual taste. Sausages not special, but eggs benedict; Mmmm. Dinner so good it's not worth going out. No dinner Sunday, Monday eve. though.Good immediate walks for dog, if you turn left. Don't bother walking to town, lacks pavement and unpleasant. Better ways to spend time.

After booking this place and turning up. I found the room dirty, after speaking to the owner he didn't care about it and thought it was acceptable.

The food in the restaurant was bland and unseasoned with no love or care to the food. The food tasted frozen and not fresh I would not recommend.

With the bad weather and the floods you would think the owner would want the business and customers to be happy and feel good about there stay.

The service was poor and I would not recommend the stay.
