Just attended the Newton Abbot Boat Jumble after a 2 year break. It would appear to have changed hands and what a disaster. A fraction of the size it used to be and a complete lack of organisation.
There are no direction signs anywhere as there used to be, no happy smiling faces to greet us at the entrance. Just a couple of rude and miserable women running around like headless chickens with no idea.
A lot of regular traders we used to see are no longer there. Is this down to new ownership or the costs?
This used to be a well organised event but now it is a shambles.
One thing is for sure, I cannot see it lasting much longer and I shall not attend again.

Dear Paul,

The Boat Jumble has been run by the same company for many years. The racecourse has always kept their rent at a reasonable rate.
The racecourse has no influence on how they choose to run their business but we will make them aware of this complaint.

Best wishes,

Patrick Masterson
Managing Director

Quite a friendly little course. Paid £19 for the paddock. Quite expensive for the facilities on offer but seems to be the norm in racing now. I liked the fact that if you sat in the top bar you could see the parade ring and then move straight into the stand. Also didnt like the fact that they charged extra for a seat in the stand. A flat track so you get a view all the way round. The beer prices seemed reasonable compared to a lot of track and the carvery was very very good and a great price. Overall quite a nice little course at least worth one visit

We only go to Newton Abbot Races once a year when holidaying in Torquay, and it is the highlight of our stay. The staff are all friendly and helpful, always having time for a chat and a joke or two. We usually start the meeting with something to eat and drink in the Carvery upstairs which we enjoy while perusing the race card. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere throughout the Racecourse with Racegoers of all ages enjoying the occasion. The informal atmosphere is most in evidence at the Parade Ring with the jockeys always finding time to exchange a few words with and sign autographs for those who ask. It makes a lovely change from larger Racecourses which can be a bit `corporate` and rowdy and is a lovely way to spend a summers` evening -- especially if you have a few winners !!
