Excellent quality, freshly cooked, reasonably priced. A great choice for lunch in Newton Abbott. Staff were very friendly when we visited. Toilets spotlessly clean.

I live in Newton Abbot and would not go anywhere else for fish & chips. The menu is varied with something unusual every day. Always cooked fresh and perfectly. Never had a bad meal. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to provide an excellent service.

I find the validity of some of these reviews hard to believe. I have been buying fish and chips and the occasional fresh fish from Jacksons for a number of years and have never had reason to complain about either the food or the staff. I would have thought that any reasonable person who had an issue with any establishment they have visited would have the decency first to speak or write to the establishment concerned and wait for a response before writing scathing and unproven complaints, as I’m sure you will find a positive outcome from most locally run businesses. I realise this website is for your personal reports but why attempt to damage locally run businesses in the area.

£2.60 for large chips, my problem is not so much the price its the poor portion size you get and to be totally honest they taste like cardboard and will actually go to say not very nice, also I had cod and must admit was a nice piece of fish until it was ruined by being cooked, was under cooked and soggy...you also have to wait for everything to be cooked so add that to the experience of poor over priced food

The guy cooking obviously has not much idea of cooking fish and the girl in there was just moaning about job and if she had smiled her face would have cracked, there are plenty of fish and chip shops in newton abbot so I say try them first!!!!

I am a bit miffed by some of the reviews. We wanted a nice lunchtime fish & chips so stopped by Jacksons last week and had a wonderful lunch. The chips were nothing special but the cod and dabs were terrific. The staff was nice. It does feel like you have stepped back into the 1960's but in a charming way. We will continue to frequent Jacksons and recommend it to anyone wanting a very good piece of fresh fish. We have not found a better fish & chips in Devon.
