Traditional pub, friendly locals! Had a great break here end of May on a photography workshop. The rooms and food were great and the landlord and the staff could not have done more to make us welcome.

Have stayed here a number of times and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. Snuck away from the busy roads and high street shops you'll find this beautiful hotel hidden away. She comes with a great beer garden where the kids can enjoy a run around, whilst you enjoy a quiet drink or even a bite to eat.

Inside and its the classic fire side scene, with decor to match, creating a wonderful friendly warm environment. The staff add the final piece, always happy for a natter, if you wish, or busy making sure your experience is a well remembered one.

There's a great choice of food, wether you're after a quick snack, or a more substantial graze!

Rooms are homely, clean and certainly adequate for your needs. I do enjoy spending a little 'me' time and these offer time to spend reading a book or grabbing a quick 10 minutes snooze in-between visiting the stunning local countryside.

Closely located to Dartmoor and the coast it covers a wide range for options on things to do. If you enjoy walking, photography, spending time on the coast or generally relaxing, then this is perfectly based to suite!!

Enjoy!!

We stayed here initially as part of a group photographic trip for a weekend, however we liked it so much we extended our stay to a whole week. Kayne and his staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Kayne is quite a character and has a wealth of amusing tales to recount. The food was good and it is a very quiet location which is ideal for visiting Dartmoor and the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed initially in room 5 which was nice but the wifi is intermittent in this area, We then move...

Have dined here a few times over the last few years and always had reasonable service and food, but this visit wasn't so good. We booked our table in advance for early Friday evening on the Easter Bank holiday. There was a few people in but not over busy. We were taken to our table by a friendly lady behind the bar. We were then asked at our table if we would like a drink and we asked to see the wine menu. This was bought over promptly. We then asked the waitress if we could order some drinks now and she told us very sternly to order them at the bar as she was too busy. My husband had to go to the bar and order the bottles of wine (This was supposed to have been a treat and we were looking forward to being waited on ) we felt this attitude put a damper on the evening. We didn't feel the waitresses attire was suitable either. On a plus side the food was good with plenty of fresh veg.

A great place to stay, very old with lots of a original features,we were given a really warm welcome, nothing was to much when ever we asked for anything. There is no need to go out looking for places to eat, the food is amazing, and reasonably priced, As a working Medium i would say the Inn is definately haunted, we had lots of experiences, Nothing threatening, we had a wonderful time. A big thank you to Kane and Carolynne, and all the staff.

we stayed for the weekend and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. the 13th century pub was very atmospheric with its candle lit tables and log burners - these were opened up and more logs added at breakfast time too. the breakfast was enormous for the full English and the menu including haddock was inviting.
the rooms were a little bit dated but large and very comfortable.
go here if you want to stay quietly just outside Newton Abbott or Totnes

What an amazing building. Really enjoyed The Old Chuch House Inn and the owners hospitality.

It's just a bit dated, carpets, bathrooms and decor would benefit from some attention. However, it's still a fascinating place to stay if you don't mind the odd quirk.

Also, do visit the wonderful church across the road.
