....we enjoyed a great meal in this centuries-old Inn ! Teeming with character from the Inglenook fireplaces to the rickety steps and the myriad nooks and crannies, this place really oozes charm and history. Very few people were dining on the night we went due to the inclement weather but still there was plenty of atmosphere..... Really friendly service backed up a comprehensive Dinner menu. We all had the duck based on others' recommendations......and a fantastic choice it was ! Succulent, lots of meat, perfectly cooked with a very tasty plum & orange sauce, this really got the taste buds salivating ! Reasonably priced and good wine menu complimented the set-up. Cain the Owner/Chef clearly knows what he wants based on a lifetime in the service industry ; he appears to deliver on all fronts. Engage him in conversation about the Inn, the village etc and you will be absorbed by his impressive knowledge, anecdotes and stories in general. Excellent service from all the back-up staff !!

Went to this very old pub on a Tuesday lunchtime, lovely decor, and by 1230 it was already full. Steak pie and the rump steak were good, service not too long bearing in mind how busy it was.

If you ever want to stay in an Inn full of history, where the locals come for a cool beer and a gossip after work or to dine on good food at the end of a hard work, and where the modern interior designers have been kept away, then The Old Church House Inn is a great place for you. On the recommendation of Alex Graeme of Unique Devon Tours I spent four nights at the Inn while touring family history places of interest during a short stay in Devon. As a solo traveller I felt welcomed and enjoyed the quirky but comfortable Inn.

We visited here for my partners Birthday and we're really pleased with the whole place, beautiful location, very comfortable lounge area with an amazing fireplace. We were served by very friendly staff, who I have to say we thought a little haphazard to start with, but they grew on us. Food was really excellent, well cooked and plenty of it. We'd like to thank them for surprising him with a birthday cake and a round of Happy Birthday after our meal, it was a lovely surprise and made it very special.

We've lunched or dined here several times and have always had good food. The Inn itself is full of character and really charming.
