A spur of the moment decision to break a journey led us to this charming and cozy pub/B&B. From the moment you walk through the door Alex and Victoria make you feel incredibly welcome to a place that they have clearly put their heart and souls into. This is no slick multinational or boutique hotel but a place where the bars cozy, the staff and locals are friendly, and you feel at ease and relaxed. Our room was a decent size, clean and well appointed with a lovely Laura Ashley feel. Breakfast is certainly something to mention with cracking local sausage, black pudding and haggis all raising the quality from the norm. Thanks for a fab stay.

We were very happy with our stay at Crags Hotel. We felt welcomed right from the moment we walked in the door. We had a wonderful room. By the time we arrived we were starving and didn't feel like going back out to find a place to eat, so we ate at the hotel. It was fantastic! Breakfast was great too. We only stayed for a night but would stay there again in a heartbeat!

We booked and paid for ground floor disabled access rooms. They hadn't kept them. Rooms cold no heating. Food OK. Service poor as they are trying to run a pub at the same time. Managers/owners don't live in. OK for an overnight stay in summer but wouldn't stay longer nor again until they get their act together. Potentially nice.

I have just returned home from a two night stay at the Crags I want to recommend this Inn to anyone who is wishing a value for money break away. Having decided the night before to have a short break I called a few hotels/ inns in the area for availabilty and this was by far the one that stood out as being the most friendly and welcoming ,and that was even before we crossed the door. On arrival we were shown to room 4 which was in my mind perfect and just as described. The room was clean , very welcoming and has fab en suite facilties, this has been designed with comfort in mind and although it is not large, a lot of thought about customer care has been displayed . The small but very friendly bar is a mixture of locals and visitors and it is hard to work out who is who , we were made to feel like locals after a an hour , and listening to the other vistors in the bar they were feeling the same . Breakfast and dinner was excellent all cooked to order with fresh local produce. Alex and Victoria who are the owners are excellent mine hosts who are obvisiouly putting there all into this , I look forward to going back soon. Please dont pass by the Crags , you will not be dissapointed.

We stayed here for a one night stop-over on the way to the Highlands.

The car park - It is an odd little car park, but it seemed well tended, and I felt perfectly comfortable leaving my car there overnight.

The welcome - We found a polite young man serving behind the bar who immediately showed us to our room. It annoys me that some people complain when a small British Inn doesn't have a dedicated receptionist and/or reception area.

The room - It was ever so slightly musty, but it was also charming, Clean, wonderfully situated (overlooking the main street in Callendar), and sympathetically modernised (in that the ensuite bathroom had a lower ceiling than the rest of the room so as not to destroy or hide the cornicing). This is a very old inn, and this room represented that perfectly.

The bed - Not sure exactly why, but we both had the best night's sleep we've had in ages, we now suspect there was a memory-foam mattress

In the evening - We had a drink in the bar before we headed out, there were a couple of locals in there and they were friendly and welcoming. We ate out at Ciro's across the road which was pretty good.

Breakfast - A really good breakfast, including the best haggis I tasted on my 8 day Scottish trip. Made me regret not eating in the Crags restaurant the previous night.

A lovely Inn, will definitely stay here again.
