We arrived and parked at the car park at the rear of the hotel and viewed it with some trepidation. However, on venturing in we were given the warmest of welcomes and shown to two absolutely individual and newly renovated rooms on the top floor of the hotel. (One room particularly took our fancy with its "secret" door to the bathroom. You'll need to go and see it for yourself! Everything was spotlessly clean and all facilities were available eg hair drier, tea and coffee making equipment, trouser press and satellite televsion. The rooms also had a lovely selection of antique furniture totally in keeping with the decor. The hotel is in the process of being renovated and it looks absolutely super. The dining room and bar have been restored sensitively, with beautiful wooden floors and the whole character of the building is being maintained. Alex who welcomed us was a charming host and provided us with a superb breakfast the next morning. He was even kind enough to part with some of the absolutely delicious black pudding we had which was not actually locally sourced - so we had a lovely reminder of our stay. All in all we had a great time. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever.. I have no reservations about recommending this hotel to friends and we certainly intend returning! Full marks all round

second time t this hotel and wont be the last,we stayed in the superior four poster room which is immaculate and i would guess from their standards the other rooms would be the same. All of the staff from victoria and alex who own the hotel down to the bar staff, cleaners etc are all very welcoming and approachable, the hotel is right on the main street in an excellent position for seeing around town.Breakfast is gorgeous too (i reccomend the black pudding or the haggis both are great)! The bar in hotel is small but the locals all made us welcome just a real friendly little place. To sum it up in one word- fantastic!!

The hotel's central location was perfect for us on the main road through Callander and parking was easily reached around the back. The public bar seemed to have a pretty busy local trade and we felt comfortable blending in. The nice family that run the place also made us feel extremely welcome and chatted amiably both in the bar and at breakfast. Great black pudding by the way.

The room had a very comfortable bed, a decent TV and was clean throughout. We'd have no problems using the Crags again should we ever be in the Trossachs.

We were on a cycle tour through Scotland and were welcomed to the hotel very nicely. This was a nice hotel with a typically Scottish local bar, though ran by English people.

The breakfast was good, though we were not asked the night before if we wanted the fish options, which we would have liked. Having said that the breakfast we did get was excellent.

The room itself was great and we did sleep well.

We had looked foward to our stay in the Crags Hotel after having booked many months in advance. We chose a room which was described as clean and cosy. It was neither! We wouldn't have minded the dated decor, as warned on the website, or a small room, but what we weren't warned about was the musty smell, the grime in the shower, and the stains on the carpets and bed covers. I would just like to comment that most of the other rooms have been updated, and it was a shame this room was not to the same standard.

If you're in the area, just stay at The Crags Hotel in Callander, it's so full of character. The owners were very welcoming and friendly - and owners baby did nothing but smile at us!
We had a slap up meal, nicely flavoured, on arrival and stayed in a lovely four-poster bedroom - very comfy. Breakfast was so good I had to find out where the wonderful black pudding came from and my husband had the local kippers. Interesting shops each side and the Crags pub is nice and friendly with good locals. Certain areas such as the car park could do with some modernisation but we gather this is in hand. All in all a lovely stay.
