“A Walk In the Country then Dinner”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

2014-06-29. They have a lovely garden. I'm not quite sure what to make of the indoor decor of the restaurant half which is an interesting melange of sections. Tartan carpet, and a lovely fireplace stove in the one side and a large solarium area on the other. Food was excellent, mushroom soup, deep fried haggis balls, steak and ale "pie" ), superlatively good sticky toffee pudding. Friendly service seems a touch distracted but otherwise good. Just two of their house beers on tap today, some guest taps that don't particularly excite and a modest selection of bottles. We walked here from our BNB in Callander and there are some friendly sheep and Highland Cattle along the way. :) The food was ultimately better than the beer but a good stop nonetheless.

Hello there and thank you for your review. Firstly thank you for the kind comments regarding the food and the friendly service. I am not sure why the staff were distracted but I hope they still gave good service to you and that you were made to feel welcome.

With regards to our interior décor our restaurant is in sections as our main restaurant has two extensions that were added back in 1982. We therefore have our main restaurant decorated in a homely traditional way with our tartan carpet running throughout the whole place. We have our children's room which has the same carpet and more neutral but warm pale gold paint. Then we have our garden room which I presume is the room you call the solarium. This has wooden floors and a sage green colour on the walls and paintings on the walls which have been done by local artists. We chose to do this here as this room overlooks the garden and we wanted to bring the garden feel inside. This room is especially popular in the Summer months.

Our beers are incredibly popular and even award winning but they are not to everyone's taste. I am unsure what guest ales you saw as we do not have any on until our Annual Beer Festival. Thank you very much for your comments and I am happy to hear that for the most part you enjoyed your visit to The Lade Inn.

“Return visit”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Visited this pub last year on the way back from Oban and enjoyed a good meal and real ale. At the end of May this year we stayed at the nearby Bridgend Cottage for a week (which we would highly recommend) and ate here every night. The food is very good, though maybe a little on the high side, but worth it. There is a separate bar area where you can eat and also a restaurant area and a pretty bear garden. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The Inn brew their own real ale and have a shop attached which sells many bottled Scottish real ales which cannot be found in the supermarkets. Well worth a visit. Decent sized car park.

Hi and thanks for your review. I am glad that you choose to visit The Lade whilst in the area.
Our ales are brewed for us in Falkirk and we have not brewed on the premises for over 9 years but we do own the recipes to the ales. Our food is priced in accordance with the area and we hope you appreciate that they are large portions and all local produce that is cooked fresh to order so we feel our pricing is correct for what you get. Thanks again for your review and we look forward to seeing you again.

“Lovely pub off the beaten track”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

This was a lovely pub with a nice menu. Had both lunch and dinner here with the same menu. Really nice staff and good food. Nice garden but lots of midges. Dogs are allowed in the bar area which is full of character and there are a few games on each table which kept us amused!

Hello and thanks for your review. I am happy to hear that you enjoy eating and drinking at The Lade and yes our ale is no longer brewed at the inn but this has been the case for over 9 years. It is now however brewed for us in Falkirk by Tryst brewery.
