We lucked on this one by checking TA. All the reviews were good so we stopped by.
The room section of the pub is all basically new; its either been fully refurbished or is a new addition. Whilst the rooms themselves were very small; the bed takes up all the space leaving about a foot around the bed, the ensuite was sufficient and the shower was good.
Sleeping was good, bed was plenty comfy and no noises in the night to wake us. Being below the kitchen fans made us hungry smelling the vapours wafting up but no big deal.

The food was good - not great - but provided good value and kept us happy.

Breakfast was typical fried offerings which you could say was a bit small. 2 rashers of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg along with mushrooms and half a tomato but there were cereals which made up the difference.

For 65 pounds this so far has been the best value and most comfortable pub we've stayed in and its a shame that others don't have the same value as we are now paying 20 pounds more for lesser facilities.

Smashing "wee" hotel/pub. Stayed here for one night, our room which was obviously recently refurbished to a high standard was spotless although due to the size of the bed not much space left in the room, The bathroom was relatively small but again of a high standard and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful although how they managed it from such a small kitchen I dont know.Plenty of walks in the local area especially nice was to the falls, but be warned its a long upward walk but was worth it. There is a car park nearer the falls if required.
There are numerous eateries close to the hotel, we chose to go to the Italian a few hundred yards left from the hotel on the opposite side of the road, great food and reasonably priced. All in all a great place to stay and would definately reccommend.

I stayed here for one night with my wife and 6yr old kid.

The place looked nice and welcoming from the outside, freshly painted, and it wasn't to disappoint.

The couple who own it were very friendly, welcoming, helpful.

The hotel interior was very clean, modern in feel (but with some old wooden bannister period features which were very nice- difficult to tell if these were original or not). But the hotel interior and room was spotlessly clean. Nice furnished, comfortable.

The bedroom was comfortable and clean, with everything you need. Nice big bed, comfortable pillows/white duvet etc.

We ate dinner in the bar, and the food was great, as was the service. And reasonably priced we felt for the quality and quantity of food served.
The owner brought over colouring paper/pencils for my kid and he always spoke with her, made her feel welcome etc.
Breakfast was great quality and nice servings.

Only negative points are very minor -
The bar seemed a bit gloomy and dark, not overly inviting at first glance, and different from the rest of hotel's bright and modern feel. But it was fine, as I said food and service was great. Even being asked about 5 times during the meal if "everything was fine with our meal" - eh, yep, it's still fine...

Breakfast as I said was great, but the coffee needs a little work! The coffee pot didn't have enough coffee grains and as such it was pretty weak coffee, more like coloured water. We felt it, the table next to us were chatting about it also about their serving. It was the only (very minor) down point of the whole breakfast, which otherwise was great.

We had a room on the 1st floor which seemed to be above the bar, and we knew this as we heard every song of the cielidh band which played at night, and which kept us from having a peaceful evening in our room. Maybe we struck unlucky with the night and room, but alas, we'd hoped for a quiet restful night, and from 9pm-midnight there was a ceilidh band playing downstairs. The owner had mentioned it would be happening as we shown to our room, but I did feel it could have been mentioned when we booked the room a couple of days before. If there are not many rooms left, and it's above the bar, and there will be a concert...then please mention it in advance.

But overall, a great place if passing through the area. I'd happily stay there again, provided the room wasn't above the bar.

Room Tip: Ask if there is a ceilidh concert on in the bar whilst booking the room...

Stayed here last night and have to say it was perfect. The room had clearly been refurbished and it was to a very high standard. The shower was amazing ! We ate in the bar and cleared our plates , it was delicious . Breakfast had a great selection of cereals and our cooked breakfast was big, hot and tasty. There was a local folk band in the bar who were great and the place was jumping , great atmosphere. Ishabell and Bill were the perfect hosts and took there time to make you feel very welcome. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. A wee gem of a place , thank you once again for your hospitality.

What a great stay we had, staff and owners were lovely, food was delicious especially the pasta dish, just too much on the plate though:), Entertainment fabulous, room was spotless and very comfy. Breakfast was amazing although we had a slight criticism on our last morning that we didn't get what we ordered and not just one thing, it was 3 things on each of our plates that were different to what we had ordered hence the 4 stars and not 5, we would certainly stay again as we have found a Gem in Callander. Thank you so much for a very enjoyable stay.

Me and my husband stayed for a night whilst attending a wedding in Callander. We were met at the door by the owner, Bill, who runs the hotel with his wife, Ishabel. A lovely couple who will go out their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
The hotel looks old from the outside but is modern inside with a bar on the ground floor and the rooms on the floor above.
We arrived about 2.40pm, our room wasn't quite ready but that didn't bother us as we were just dumping our belongings then heading out. Our room was fresh, clean and modern. It had a massive bed, flat screen tv on wall, and a brand new bathroom. The shower was big with a powerful mains shower and it had a mirror above the sink with a plug for shavers. The room was a bit warm, but it was 27 degrees outside, so I can't complain, and there was a portable fan plugged in to cool us down. The room also had a cupboard for storage, bedside tables and a full length mirror on the wall.
We ate in the bar for dinner with another couple, the food was delicious, served in good time was also reasonably priced. The breakfast was also good, with choices of cereal, porridge, toast, fruit, yoghurt, various cooked items, fruit juice, tea and coffee.
When visiting Callander again, I will definitely be staying here.
