Firstly this is a Guest House not an Hotel. We reserved a room on-line and the whole procedure went very smoothly. On arrival we had a friendly greeting and were shown to the room where there were tea and coffee making facilities and a supply of biscuits. The room was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed and an en-suite shower room. Breakfast was enough to set us up for the day. Although the location was on a main road noise was not a problem and the town centre was only a few minutes walk away.
All in all a very clean and friendly place to stay.

As soon as we entered the Glengarry Guest House, we were met by a bubbly blonde woman and her lovely mother. this delectable duo are Evelyn and Anne McCroary, mother and daughter who run the famly establishment. We were then shown to our lovley room, the room was very airy and spacious, with very comfortable beds and furnishings. Evelyn showed us to our rooms and gave us a lovely dialogue about what you can see in the town, good restaurants and generally made us feel very welcome. the next morning we were served breakfast in a lovley dining room by Anne who was very pleasant and managed to tell us lots about the history of callander whilst serving, myself a full scottish breakfast and my girlfriend was served the cereal of her choice. al in all the glengarry was a lovely bed and breakfast and is well run by a lovely family.

There seems to be a bit of a mix up in previous reviews between the Glengarry hotel and the Glengarry Castle hotel.
I stayed in the Glengarry in Callander and found it very nice and peaceful. Our room was very clean and bigger than we are used to (2 double beds!). Breakfast was great!. The owner a lovely wee lady could not have been more helpful. I would recommend the Glengarry as great value for money. Callander itself can be nice during the day but after dark its like any other town centre these days, a bit scary and the pubs leave a lot to be desired.

We stayed four nights at the Glengarry, along with two other couples, in August of 2007. First, I'd like to make a couple of corrections to previous reviews. I'm not sure what lake the one previous reviewer was speaking about as the Glengarry in Callander is no where near a lake. The pub, mentioned by another previous reviewer, has been closed for 2007.

The Glengarry is a small, intimate guest house run by the gregarious and charming Ann, who lives on premise. Rooms are about what we expected, though a little on the small side, primarily because ensuite facilities were added into the rooms, leaving both the bed rooms and the toilets small. Rooms near the front of the house face the street, which is a relatively busy highway, and can be noisy at night. Breakfast is plentiful and well prepared, but the same foods are served every day, so don't expect unique or exciting breakfasts, just wholesome, tasty ones. Ann is quite helpful and accommodating. Service to the rooms was excellent and completely unintrusive. Value for cost was exceptionally good, the best we encountered on our trip.

The Glengarry is convenient to Callander's pubs, restaurants, and shops, but expect to walk about a mile to get to them. Good walks are located in the woods above town, and Callander is an excellent central location for exploring the nearby national park and historic sites.

You feel like your pulling into a Merchant-Ivory film when approaching the hotel which is in a stately home on it's own grounds by the lake. The hotel was almost full when I booked and we got a standard room overlooking the carpark - we were very pleasantly surprised to enter a beautiful room, with large, majestic bed, antique style furniture, lovely big bathroom and all amenities including TV with cable, fast internet, coffee/tea, etc and an old fashioned "wireless".

We only one night but it was one of the most memorable hotels we stayed in. A pre-dinner walk around the grounds followed by gin and tonic on the lawn. Dinner was served in an old-fashioned dining room very properly. The dinner was good but could have been better, the tastes and flavours stronger and more inspiration put into the menu. After dinner dessert & coffee was served in the library (dessert was great!) and we took another small stroll (to smoke a cigar) and had port outside while watching he late (10pm) sun set.

Excellent.

we had a one night stay here and found it to be very pleasant. the owners are friendly and the breakfast was good and ample.
the small lounge was good for a crack with locals which we enjoyed. it is a five minute walk to centre of town which means a very peaceful nights sleep. a good value for money. the bedroom we had was lovely with en-suite.
