Uh oh...this was....not good.
Strange arrival as it's the bar staff that welcomes you and brings you to your room. Room was aging, decor slightly kitschy. The cleaning crew had not bothered to change the empty roll of toilet paper in the bathroom! (So, first action after a long day: march down to the bar to ask for toilet paper).
The first thing you notice in the hallways to the room is a very weird, sharp smell, my guess is from moisture in the walls. It's very disagreeable. You smell it less in the room, but it is detectable.
But you can always choose your own poison, as when you leave your room by the front (without passing by the bar) you leave close to the restaurant and the moisture smell is traded in for a strong smell of old fryer grease which really didn't convince us to eat at Nikki's Kitchen (the hotel restaurant) in the evening.
Our room was on the side of the entry to the bar, so during the evening you had folks talking right down in front of your window, with almost no noise isolation whatsoever. Thank god it was a week day, I imagine that on weekends this will prevent you from sleeping if you turn in early.
Speaking of preventing sleep: The bed and matress here is the absolute worst, it's so atrociously soft that when you or your partner move, it feels like your getting seasick and/or thrown out of bed. Plus there's a bar on the bed's edge so you can not even really stretch out. Terrible night of sleep.
The morning introduces you to the antiquated shower, and then it's off to Nikki's Kitchen for breakfast. Everything you feared about that place comes true: Eggs of weird consistency and dubious quality, sausage severely undercooked, cereals with an ending date from three months before and the fruit basket proudly displayed a rotting, mouldy peach placed front and center. Seriously, when you wheel out the fruit basket, how can you not see this? I imagine pure ignorance can be the only answer. The only decent thing about the breakfast was the coffee.
This was an all-around bust, pure and simple. There's nothing to recommend here, neither service, nor room, nor food. Seriously, spare yourself some trouble and stay somewhere else. I was lured in by a low price on a booking site, but it's better to invest 15 or 20 Euros more and get a good night's sleep and a digestable breakfast...
