A superb location in Callander, as it's well off main road - downside to most of the other rated residences here - and the hosts strike the balance that is attentive when necessary, and accord privacy the rest of the time.

Fantastic breakfast, with superb view of hills beyond Callander.

Thanks

Room Tip: Front or Back both great!

Arriving in drizzly mist, late on a Friday afternoon, after a long journey, the mood quickly changed on meeting our jovial hosts, no strings of rules and regulations, basically-"enjoy yourselves". We were shown to our rooms by Ash, and were all absollutely delighted by what we found. all rooms are very spacious, tastefully furnished and decorated, with tea/coffee making facilities and freeview television. after a night "on the town", a five minute walk got us back to The Knowe and we all found our beds to be very comfortable. Next morning, more "crack" with our hosts, who produced and served a terrific breakfast. We would all strongly recommend this location. We WILL be back next year!

Room Tip: They're all brilliant.

Ray and Chris are great hosts, with lots of local knowledge. The breakfast choice and standard is fantastic, and the dining room friendly and informal. Our bed was very comfortable, though would have preferred plumper pillows. Location great, very quiet but just a 5 minute walk to main street shops and eateries, which are very varied with some that are excellent. The area in and around Callander is really beautiful, either for a drive or for some great walks, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and it's castle are a short to moderate drive away, and Oban is about 1 hour, and has the best seafood cafe's! One downside, TV reception very poor at the moment, I'm sure that will be fixed soon.

Room Tip: We were in Sunrise, a lovely room with sitting room with TV and beautiful views.

I have stayed at the Knowe before and it does not disappoint. Very spacious comfortable rooms, excellent en-suite shower room. Really delicious breakfasts with a good selection to suit all tastes, cereals, fruits and yoghourt, porridge and cooked to order full Scottish breakfast to really keep you going throughout the day. Just a short stroll to plenty places for dnner. Plenty parking once up the steep driveway. The Knowe ticks all the boxes. Relax and enjoy!

Stayed as part of the final leg of our honeymoon. The room was huge with a sofa, desk and teamaking station. The en-suite shower room was lovely with plenty of towels and toiletries available. The room was clean, but because the carpet is light coloured it's worth changing out of your wellies if you come back from walking before going in. The guest house overlooks Callandar so you have lovely views of the town and the surrounding hills. The drive area is a bit steep and we found it easier to park on the street where there was plenty of space. It's literally 2mins away from the high street and very quiet. The guest house is well-placed for travelling about the Trossachs and the lochs and there is plenty of information available at the guest house - the owners are a lovely couple with a great deal of enthusiasm for the history of the area. The breakfast was very good with a huge selection on the table (yoghurts / fruit / cereals) as well as a really good fry up. I would recommend this B&B for anyone looking for quiet and well-kept accommodation.

My wife and I stayed at The Knowe for three nights in August of 2011 with our parents and grandparents. The rooms were very nice and large. Breakfast was fantastic each morning. Best of all were Ray and Ashley who helped us thoroughly with every question and concern we had during our stay. Ray was even nice enough to have one of the pubs downtown hold a table for my wife and I so we could get away from the family for a bit. Later that night we played trivia in the same pub with Ray and his family. Oh, and we lost because we couldn't answer a question about the US! go figure. They gave us a nice prize for having one of the worst scores that evening, thought :)

The topping on the cake was when I was so absent minded that I left our camera in our room and didn't realize it till the next day when we were well on our way back to Aberdeen. Ashley was nice enough to package it up and send it back to us in Maryland! Wonderful customer service and I would highly recommend The Knowe if you're staying in that part of Scotland for a while.

We stayed here in July for two nights.

The Knowe is located a few streets back from the main part of Callander.

The owners were lovely and advised us on places to eat and popular sites to visit.

Breakfast was huge and very well-prepared.

The room had huge windows with great district views - lots of natural light. There were only two single beds available - however, the owners pushed these together and made a king-sized bed - extremely comfortable!

Only downside was the wi-fi was not working - however, head to the Waverley Hotel - nice staff, great food, great beers and free wi-fi :-)
