We arrived and were taken up to our room keys are in the door already. Room was lovely and clean almost every thing you need (ie ironing board and iron, dressing gowns) for an overnight stay .Sadly no hair dryer. Bed was surprisingly very comfy. Good sound proofing as didn't hear any other guest returning at night. Had steak meal downstairs which was excellent. There was no entertainment last friday so went along to The Crown for live music. Breakfast was very hearty and filling. Everybody has there own preference to haggis and black pudding. But enjoyable. Very friendly staff. We couldn't fault our lovely stay here.

We booked a room in the last minute before heading to Callander. Very nice building. Confortable bed and good bedroom size. There's a bar and restaurant in the ground floor. Full Scottish breakfast included in the price. Haggis was not good. In fact it was the worst we'd had in all our Scottish trip.

Just returned from a two night stay at the Old Rectory. Generally OK with comfortable beds and a hearty breakfast on the second morning. However, we did feel that the whole place could do with a good clean and bit of a "spruce up". Nice curtains which would look so much better if hung properly......
Instructions in the bedroom on how to work the TV would have been helpful. We gave up in the end (yes, we should have asked but with instructions we wouldn't have had to.) We asked for an early breakfast on the first morning and were advised that a cold breakfast would be left out for us. However, when we went to the dining room at 8.00 am, the door was locked. (breakfast is usually served at 8.30 am) We went without. Oh, and the hairdryer was very low powered and feeble. But from the reviews we have read since, others enjoyed their stay.

We have 2 restaurants on the ground floor the main restaurant which can be found by the bar is locked till 8.30am the other dining room is open 24 hours and this is where continental breakfast is served for early breakfasts. Your other comments as you said yourself are VERY picky so I wont even bother to reply to these febal as the hairdryers comments.

Have often stayed in Callander but never knew this little gem existed, basically because we come in to Callandar from the opposite direction. Establishment spotlessly clean and hospitality friendly. Had a bit of a problem with service in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, but it was exceptionally busy and most definitely will not deter from us returning which we hope to do again soon.

Booked one night with my wife and had a really bad experience.
The shower was not functioning properly with boiling and freezing water cycles every few seconds, the room was smelly, dusty and dirty.
Even the dinner at the restaurent on the first floor of the inn did not deliver with boring selection and poor to medium execution of the dishes.

Havent had anyone before make these comments on our electric showers, dust, smell or being dirty also both our restaurants and bar/whisky library are on the ground floor and all the bedrooms are on the first floor ?????? Our Scottish themed menu has 49 dishes on offer this doesn't include starters, side dishes or desserts we serve everything from fresh fish delivered to us everyday from Perthshire venison to our sizzling Scottish steak menu plus we have locally caught Haggis, are we really sure this is boring !?!?!?!

The Old Rectory Inn was recommended to us - and it was amazing - nice clean rooms - spotless white linen on the beds - very friendly - great entertainment - guests and public in the bar were great - it was like having a big family night out - no issues with the food - i have a gluten intolerance - and made me a sauce with no flour with out any issue - it is a bit laid back and we waited a bit for our food to come - but it is cooked to order so what would you expect - loved it will never stay anywhere else in callander apart from here

Room Tip: ask for a room at the front - good views

We booked in for one night, 2 couples occupying 2 of the 4 rooms. The place was busy and we eventually were given keys for the rooms.
The rooms were basic but had what you need for one night or a short stay, both rooms had dog smells, OK if you like dogs.
We read the reviews for the restaurant and decided to give it a try.
One of the party ordered Fillet steak, it was terrible it had large amounts of grissle running through it, it certainly was'nt Fillet Steak, we also ordered Salmon, the piece was that small it looked like an off cut, we have seen bigger fish fingers.
The table service was very slow and the food was not up to much, although the prices are at the higher end of what you would expect to pay.
Breakfast was from 8.30 - 9.30, the breakfast room was locked and the Breakfast lady did'nt turn up until 8.45.
The whole experience was dissapointing.

Are you sure you have the correct place ????
We don't give out keys they are upstairs in the bedroom doors so guests don't have to wait for them.
Can't believe that anyone would pay for a meal which seriously didn't enjoy and that if it was that bad nothing was said at the time and we certainly aren't the highest price place in fact we are cheaper than most.
Breakfast, we don't have a breakfast lady,at breakfast it is the owner himself that serves breakfast which again I have to ask have you got the correct place ?
We do allow dogs to stay with us but we haven't had any for a while so not sure about the smell of dog in the rooms. Also I think that what we provide in the rooms aren't basic , Shower En Suite with fluffy bath robes, electric shaver points, hair drier and complimentary Scottish toiletries. The bedrooms all have Flat Screen LCD TV with over 130 free view channels and a DVD player with dvds available on request, alarm clock radio with I pod docking station, Fully stocked tea & coffee making facilities, iron & ironing board.
