“Stratton Gardens is a gem.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

We have just come back from staying at Stratton Gardens for 3 nights. We so wished we could stay longer. The guest house is a gem, set in the heart of a lovely, peaceful village. We were warmly greeted and shown to our lovely spacious and smart room with great bathroom. We were then given tea and cake in the garden, then a tour of the comfortable and large guest lounge and bar, where we spent a couple of pleasant evenings after going out for dinner. Breakfast was great - beautifully cooked and presented, and with cheerful and friendly service. Jan and Liz are both very helpful with regards to places to visit, and gave great advice. They were fantastic hosts and we can't wait to go back.

pleasantly and cheerfully.

Set in the heart of a village full of charm and character, Stratton Gardens is a haven of peace and tranquility. Our room was very clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfasts were to die for - thank you Liz, and the service second to none - thank you Jan. All the food is locally sourced and the honey was sooooo delicious, we even brought some home.
Nothing was too much trouble - Jan recommended places to visit and places to eat. They recommended the local pub (The Tree Inn) for evening meals and we were not disappointed, the food was excellent and the staff were welcoming and friendly - they even booked a table for us, and as a bonus, it is only 2 minutes walk away!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stratton Gardens. It is welcoming, relaxing and we came home with 'our batteries recharged'. We would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at Stratton Gardens and had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were all very clean and the breakfast included was delicious - even vegetarian sausages were on the menu! ...something I'd never found before. All the food was lovely - from the locally sourced meat to the fresh Cornish apple juice! The owners were very personable and accommodating - they found us a wonderful place to eat and even printed out the menu for us which was so helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

A little gem of a guest house, set in the heart of old Stratton Village with plenty of parking & easy access to Bude. We have stayed there several times & can confirm that all the bedrooms are individually & tastefully furnished & recently some modernised to a very high standard. We have enjoyed sitting in the terraced gardens having a drink & also by the open fire in the lounge. Jan & Liz make everyone welcome and provide a large breakfast menu using local produce & home-made bread & marmalade. Should you want information on local walks, golfing or restaurants Jan & Liz give tried & tested advice which is most reliable. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming & friendly & everything is done to make your stay a memorable experience & we most certainly will be visiting again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the guest house have views of the terraced gardens.

Recently chose this hotel to spend 3 nights for my wedding anniversary, and was not disappointed. You get what it says on the packet: a great location for a perfect break. Room was great, food was excellent, and the hosts were so nice. Will definetly return.

Room Tip: superior rooms get afternoon sun

On arrival we received a warm welcome followed by a pot of tea and delicious home made cake served in a quiet corner of the lovely garden. Our room was fabulous - very comfortable, exceptionally clean, well appointed with a beautiful view. The English breakfast was made from all local organic produce (free range eggs from next door !) with a good selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade jams and marmalade.
Over all a fantastic secret tucked away just outside Bude and well worth using it as a north Cornwall base. Jon

We booked for 3 nights on a friend’s high recommendation and it was everything they said and more so. Greeted with afternoon tea in the garden, followed by a tour of the public rooms and then an introduction to our room. Light and airy with a view of the delightful country garden and everything spick and span, but homely. Attention to detail to ensure our comfort and relaxation. The great boon was a small fridge on the landing where you could help yourself to fresh milk for the courtesy tray in your room. No little cartons of UHT milk! Breakfasts were great, with a bowl of fresh fruit and fruit salad plus cereals before you started on your fry up. Jan and Liz are excellent hostesses, who endeavour to meet your needs, even if they deviate from the norm. Nothing is too much trouble and they kindly got some photocopying done for us in Bude. Plenty of parking space, which is at a premium in Stratton. We cannot speak more highly of Stratton Gardens and it is the best B & B we have ever experienced. Thank you Jan & Liz for making our stay so memorable.
