A group of 4 of us ranging in ages from 46 to 11 had a learn to surf lesson with Robin and his team on Widemouth beach last Monday.
We all had a great time and true to his word we all actually stood up on a board and surfed!
Robin even gave our 11 year old some one on one tuition whilst the group were being taught by one of the other team members.
Highly recommended. We did it early in the week so we knew whether we wanted to surf or bodyboard for the rest of our holiday.
On the Thursday 6 of us aging from 46 to 10 had a Coasteering lesson where we met Robin and the team in Bossiney Cove. This is a glorious place which we would never have found without Robin.
Coasteering is one of the best things I have ever done! It is fantastic fun and we swam through narrow gaps in the rocks, into a cave and jumped off the cliffs into the sea. Robin had 3 team members with him, he was guiding, 2 of the others had lifeguarding aids and there was also someone with a full length rescue surfboard. It was very well organised. After we had finished I saw another group starting their coasteering and they only had 2 staff for a similar size group (8) and did not have the rescue board. In comparison Robin's approach to safety seems much better.
We had a 10 year old girl in the group and she had a brilliant time and even got ferried between the obstacles on the rescue board when the swimming got too much for her!
I had to add people to both of our original bookings and this was no problem at all for Robin.
I highly recommend Freewave Surf Academy they really produced some of the highlights of our holiday and the nice thing is that neither surfing or coasteering are weather dependant, if it rains it doesn't matter.
