It’s really difficult to choose a surf school when there are so many of them. But I liked the tone of Freewave’s web page and the fact that my messages were replied to promptly.
My son (18) had 2 private windsurfing lessons with Charlie. He absolutely loved them and learned and improved so much. He described one of the days as ‘one of the best days of my life.’ That is high praise indeed considering he travels all over the world taking part in many different sporting activities.
Then the 4 of us (including our daughter, 20) had a paddle boarding session on Bude canal with Robin. 3 of us were novices but the way Robin ran the afternoon meant we could all go at our own pace.
It was exhausting, brilliant and hilarious in equal measure. There were a few unexpected and fun additions too (which I won’t spoil by revealing).
I can’t praise, or recommend, Charlie and Robin highly enough. Kind, patient, friendly and fun. And the kind of people you wish were your mates when you have to leave (whatever your age).
We will definitely go back again on our next visit to Bude.
