Took a chance via the internet when we wanted a three-night stay for a break, and certainly struck gold - a lovely room (Room 6, but am sure all the others are just as good), excellent breakfast, gold star house-keeping, everywhere spotless and well-maintained, and all-in-all first class. Friendly but not intrusive family-run, and we certainly hope to return.

Room Tip: Premier sea view room 6 was excellent.

We came across this hotel whilst on foot looking for somewhere to stay. We'd just about given up and saw the vacancies sign. At first I was a bit hesitant because it looked a bit pricey (and what's all this with the per person per night!!). Anyway, in we went and came across Charlie. A thoroughly nice guy, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Showed us to one of two doubles left, we of course went for the sea view which has hardly more than a couple of quid extra. It was room number 12. From the front it's the top floor on the left. The room was lovely. In fact, the whole place is decorated in the contemporary style but none of these horrid little chairs - no, this place has massive soft and plump chairs and sofas you just disappear into.

We wanted to stay for two nights but we were informed we'd have to change rooms due to a prior booking. No problem, we're OK with that. Charlie and his borther in law Lee (? hope that's right) recommended an indian restaurant (Murchi I think) just down the road aways, it was absolutely fantastic food - thanks guys, great recommendation!

Next morning we packed up and went down for breakfast. What can I say!! Cereals, fruit juice, toast, tea or coffee or both, fresh fruit (AND AND AND strawberries and cherries!!!) followed by an English with the best sausages I've ever tasted. The thing I like about the food here is that it's all sourced locally. In these days, there's no excuse for serving rubbish breakies when you have such fab stuff on your doorstep. The coffee and tea(s) were great. Fab selection, also sourced locally.

Off we went to Boscastle for a visit and on our return our things had been moved for us into room number 4. From the front, large bay, middle floor on the right. Another sea view and another thoroughly lovely room. You must look at the pics to get the idea.

All in all, this place is a great find. We'll be returning. The jewel in their crown is THEM! They are so friendly, happy, cheerful and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and it's very hard to believe that they are related yet get on so well (either that or they're very good actors!!). I loved it here. It has the quality of a five star and the price of a three star. I hope they never change it.

Thank you for making our stay in Bude so good that we will be coming back for a week next time. Happy belated birthday, Charlie (I left you a message in the guest book...).

Great to find somewhere tasteful and not overly priced. It's extremely friendly and there's an excellent choice offered for breakfast. A great place to stay... we've been twice!

The owners of this great place gave us a warm welcome. The location and quality of the premises are great. The breakfast includes an extensive choice. Attention to detail is apparent in all areas of the Edgcumbe

Had a really good stay as usual, the "crew" are a wonderful bunch of people who make you feel like part of the family from the moment you arrive.

If possible ask for room 12 as this has a great view. Room 8 (single room) not so good as view over Sainsbury's car park but heh how long do you spend in your room?

We have just returned after a wonderful 2 night stay at The Edgecumbe. The owners offer a 5 star service from the moment you arrive at the hotel until the moment you leave. They leave nothing to chance every small detail that could be done they have already thought of. The room that we were given was fantastic and the breakfast was a complete delight. We will certainly return and recommed this hotel as a complete must to visit. Thank you all so much again. Sheila and John

Room Tip: All i am sure will be of the same great standard.

We recently got married in Bude and as a result we rented out rooms in six different B&Bs in the town. While we didn't have any bad experiences in the town, far and away our best experience was at the Edgcumbe, where we actually spent a few nights in the run up to the wedding.

For a start, the location is pretty perfect. A view of the sea for most rooms, with the main shopping area only a few minutes walk away.

The rooms are clean, tidy and our room was spacious and had a huge, well-fitted bathroom. There is a bar downstairs that is neat and cosy, and a breakfast room the otherside of the reception entrance hall that serves a great breakfast.

We felt the pricing was good value and we took advantage of a three-for-two offer that made it even better value for money.

Above all, the staff at the Edgcumbe were some of the best we have come across in our travels - the rare and perfect mix of laidback Cornish surfer style and a keen eye for detail and attentive service.

Finally, they have a dog called Hector. Guests can take him for a walk on the beach if they want. Bonus!

All in all, what should have been a stressful time for us was made extremely chilled. On top of this, all in our wedding party fed back similar comments. Thank you to all at the Edgcumbe!
