This is a great location right next to the beach with fabulous views over the sea but is looking a little tired and in need of a makeover. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was good. The food was fine but basic (ie; chips with everything). There was a good choice of local beers, mine was from the Tintagel brewery, tasty and well kept but served in an incorrectly branded glass. A small point perhaps but it suggests a lack of care. With a little more imagination, attention to detail and a lick of paint this place could be a winner and getting far higher ratings from trip advisor reviewers.

The service here is efficient and adequate, but nothing out of the ordinary. We met up with friends here for lunch and there was an OK selection of snacks and sandwiches and some "specials" but really nothing very exciting. I had spicy crab cakes from the specials menu and they were a bit disappointing and tasted as though they'd come out of a bag in the deep freeze - which was sad, considering how much fresh crab was available in the area.
The inside of the pub is looking a bit tired and would seem to be in need of some serious TLC. But, the view from the bar is just wonderful and does make up for some of the pub's shortcomings.

Fifteen of us camping locally went for dinner here. We didn't have expectations about the food, knowing it to be the usual pub grub. But the friendly service surpassed our expectations and we all got served promptly. Fish and chips was excellent, at £10. As it was my birthday I wasn't in the slightest interested in what everyone else was eating - much as I love Tripadvisor, I was focused on having a good time rather than memorising the menu. But the kids loved their nachos, and all the adults had fish and chips and agreed they were pleasantly surprised at the quality . The family room has a pool table and is big enough for four or five parties the size of ours, and the staff are relaxed and helpful. As well as the family room, the pub has a restaurant and some tables in the bar. If you can, get a table near the window that overlooks the beach as the sunsets can be beautiful. The only minus I'd give this pub is that as you walk through the car park, that quintessential British smell of stale fat emanates from the kitchen.

We love Crackington Haven and enjoy visiting the pub, but there is no escaping the fact that it appears to be on a downward slide, based on the evidence of our last three or four visits. It is in such a lovely place, with wonderful views and lovely outside seating. The beer is good and the staff is friendly, but the standard of the food seems to be slipping. On a busy weekend evening, I have no grumbles about having to wait a long time, but I do not like seeing items wipred off the board at 630 in the evening. This is poor kitchen management. I do hope it manages to get its act back together, because we so like going there.
