Returned from a great 3 day stay at The Filly Inn which is an excellent Inn with good friendly service, comfortable rooms and an enjoyable relaxing breakfast. It's location is ideal when visiting the New Forest.

After a long drive from the North East, we received a warm welcome and were shown to our good sized bedroom which had a comfortable bed and a large en-suite shower room. We had pre booked a table in the restaurant and when we returned to the bar were quickly shown to our table and a drinks order immediately taken. The bar has a good choice of real ales, lager and ciders. A good menu choice with an additional specials board and the food was of excellent quality and good sized portions.

We enjoyed our meals so much on the first night that we ended up eating at the Filly on each night of our stay, trying different choices on each occasion and were not disappointed in any way.

The Filly has a large beer garden which was a great location to relax after a days walking in the Forest, particularly with the very hot weather and for an after dinner coffee.

All the staff were friendly and gave good service with the owners Steve and Claire very helpful. However particular praise goes to Marta who was very friendly and gave excellent attentive service in both the beer garden and restaurant and was a credit to the venue.

Good value and definitely worth a visit.

After a superb visit earlier in the year we were looking forward to returning this weekend. Dog friendly bar area is always inviting and the ever helpful waitress took our order very quickly. All good. Then the meal arrived. My fish and chips was OK, not great but OK. Chips were excellent but fish itself was a bit bland and only just cooked. My wife's on the other hand was terrible.

Her "foil baked whole seabass" arrived and when she prodded it and knew something was up. Further inspection revealed that most of the flesh on it wasn't cooked. So I called the waiter over who took it away. The waitress returned and apologized and explaine that a new one would arrive shortly. 15 mins later I had already finished mine as the fish arrived. It had clearly Been baked flat on a tray, the skin was very crispy, and then laid back in the foil to be served. It was ok but not really what was ordered plus eating separately isn't very nice either. We were offered a free dessert which my wife accepted but by that point, the experience had already disappointed me and I just wanted to leave. Over hearing a comment one of the waiters said to another couple having a meal wasn't very professional either, but will leave that to them to leave a comment about that one. Won't be back for a while unfortunately, very disappointed as the first time there was excellent.

We called in to The Filly on the spur of the moment for lunch. What a pleasure!
Not a large menu, but covering all tastes.
The meals we ordered were delicious and well presented. Try the Farmers Platter, especially the pork pie. The scotch eggs tasted better than any ever sampled.
All members of staff were polite, courteous and efficient. Big thanks to Lewis.
Not close enough to be our "local", but we will go back and take the family and certainly recommend The Filly to our friends.

Only stopped for a quick afternoon bite on our way back from the coast, had lovely food from the bar menu. menu small , covered most options and was interesting, had all the usual pub grub favourites with little twists ! Specials board not available before 6pm but we were pleased to get great food at 4pm in the afternoon.Very friendly staff & good service.

Very friendly staff. Restaurant was clean and well kept. Nice garden room and outside seating area.
Food was very good although the yorkshire puddings slightly too well done. Would go back if in the area again

We were looking for somewhere to eat after a long and tiring day at Bournemouth with our two young grandchildren.
We saw the Filly Inn - it looked nice and said that it was child friendly - believe me it needed to be to cope with a 2 and 4 year old after a hot and tiring day at the beach.
Being born in the area and having worked in the area MANY years ago I vaguely remembered the pub (don't think it was called the Filly Inn then) so decided to give it a go.
First impression - a lovely old style pub - relaxed and friendly. Nice grounds - but as it was getting a bit chilly for the little ones we decided to sit inside.
Within minutes of sitting we had an attentive server who took out drinks order - I can recommend the local bitter served there. It was nice that the waiter came back and apologised that the barrel was being changed rather than just wait.
The orders were taken and within seconds the kids were presented with a story book each / chalk board / chalks / duster - bit of advice have two dusters available in future - children will argue about anything !!
We ordered our food - two mains for the grown ups and chips for one child and ice cream for the other - don't ask. The staff were more that happy to serve this eclectic mixture and we sat down to enjoy our food.
So - the important bit - is the food good. Without doubt yes - my partner had one of the best fish and chips she has had and the burger was done in style. (even the kids enjoyed their chips and ice cream) albeit whilst tipping coke all over the bench and table in their excitement at drawing pictures on the chalk boards.
Verdict - children friendly. Definitely a yes
Verdict - good pub. Definitely a yes - better than I can vaguely remember from many years ago
Verdict - good food. Definitely a yes.
If you are ever in the area - just outside Brockenhurst and a few miles from Lymington then seek The Filly Inn out
