“Lovely B & B”
Reviewed 8 December 2011

Charming B & B with very a comfortable bed. Warm host who makes an excellent, generous breakfast (especially the cinnamon scones!). Arrived after hours and followed instructions to gain access - very easy and secure. Close to the train station and other amenities.

Stayed in the Red Lion room which included tea/coffee making facilities, along with fridge and biscuits. Room has great amenities such as large flatscreen TV and couch.

Would highly recommend The Blacksmith's House to anyone.

Glad that you liked the Red Lion room - it has a brand new zip and link bed hence it is larger then our other double beds and has the facility to split into single beds making this room into a flexible triple occupancy room if required. It is also great for our taller guests as it has no footboard. Thank you for your kind feedback and we hope that we can welcome back again to the Blacksmiths House

Very much enjoyed our stay here a couple of weeks ago, friendly atmosphere, clean rooms and one of the few places where my partner has felt comfortable. A good continental breakfast is provided but a traditional cooked breakfast is available for an extra charge (£4 at time of writing) I opted for this both days of our stay as it was very good. Cakes available on arrival was a nice touch. If we are visiting this area again we would definitely come here.

Just returned from a weekend stay at The Blacksmith's House feeling relaxed and very pleased with our stay. Booking online was easy with prompt acknowledgement and details about our accommodation including clear directions to the property and access. We arrived and let ourselves in via the keypad as instructed. First impression of our room, The Red Lion, was very nice with the usual tea/coffee making facilities with a bonus of homemade biscuits. Homemade cakes/scones where also laid out in the dining room which were very welcome. Our room was very cosy with character and despite it being on the ground floor and close to the road was very quiet making for a good nights sleep. Breakfasts were very generous including hot mini pancakes, salmon, cold meats/cheese, bread/toast, homemake scones, jams and marmalade, yogurts, cereals, fruit, large pots of tea and coffee, along with orange juice. A cooked breakfast could be ordered for a little extra, but to be honest we were more than happy with the breakfast that was included in our stay. Sam and Tracy were very friendly and attended to our every need. They were even happy for us to make sandwiches for our day ahead. The B&B is ideally situated for walking to restaurants/pubs once you've parked up for the night. We ate at the Chinese, Italian and Indian and enjoyed some very nice meals. The train station is close by, so if you prefer it you can train it to Lymington, Bournemouth, Poole etc... Brockenhurst is a good base and is close by to many of the New Forest attractions. We would certainly return to the Blacksmith's House and would thoroughly recommend a stay there. Thank you for a great weekend.

this is a fab B&B - your host is really attentive - there is non-stop cake - tea coffee etc and the breakfast is very nice too... It seems everything about your stay has already been thought of - like there is a fridge you can use - there ois afternoon tea - great for after biking or walking all day. The host actually lives somewhere else close by - so it feels less like youre staying in someone's house - and you can let yourself in and out anytime with the electronic lock (simple to use). Even pack up lunches from breakfast are encouraged. Its also a good base if you are driving or especially if youre on the train to brockenhurst as its so close. lots of pubs and eateries close by - highly recommended overall...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend in November, in the Cat & Fiddle room. The room was clean and comfortable and we felt right at home almost straight away. Bathroom was lovely and modern with a gorgeous shower. When we arrived there was fruit cake and scones and jam laid out to help ourselves too, as well as tea and coffee and biscuits in our room. We met Tracey the owner on the Saturday morning who laid out a fantastic breakfast spread. Freshly cooked pancakes and scones for breakfast - I didn't need a fry up! Though I saw another couple having it and it looked great, and only 4 quid! Tracey was really helpful with suggesting things to do and restaurants to try out. The b&b is in an ideal location, not even 5 minutes to the train station and bike hire shops, and 5 mins walk to the village centre, with a very good pub next door for dinner. Plus you are literally steps from the forest, I don't think you could get better This was off peak, so our room was only 60 a night b&b, and I think it was stunning value. Highly highly highly recommended, and if you read this Tracey, thank you so much for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Cat & Fiddle was perfect for us (Young couple 25-30 years old)

What a lovely place to stay for my week's break. The room was lovely and very comfortable. Sam and Tracy were very welcoming, friendly and informative. The breakfast was absolutely amazing and provided everything you could want. I could not have chosen a better B & B and loved the home baking. Thank you so much and see you next year.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Ducking Stool. Room lovely, bright and light.

What a gem of a place! Without doubt the most homely, welcoming and inviting place I've ever stayed. Tracy (the owner) is amazing. On arrival we had homemade cakes and biscuits waiting, and a lovely breakfast made each morning. We really enjoyed the one large, communal breakfast table, it was a wonderful place to meet and chat with the other guests. Tracy has a huge knowledge and passion for the New Forest, and is also full of information about the local area, such as restaurants, shops etc. We felt that Tracy couldn't do enough for us. She asked us to make sandwiches for lunch each day, and invited us to use the facilites in an empty room prior to leaving for home on our last afternoon.

We will stay again without question. Tracy, if you read these reviews, a huge thank-you from us. (Gary and Aneta - the cyclists in the Cat and Fiddle room).

Room Tip: Cat and Fiddle room was delightful - very homely, and huge showerhead!
