“A Great Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2013

Stayed here for one night to attend a wedding nearby, and loved our stay. In the end there were nine of us, with two couples staying two nights. Arrival late afternoon was lovely as some of them were already there and it was like going into a friends house. We chose to have a Chinese take away in the evening (although there was a variety of places to eat within walking distance), having had a wonderful tea prepared by Tracey, and breakfast was superb - my husband says the home baked ham deserves a special mention!. None of us felt that we needed a cooked breakfast, Tracey's bread, cake and scones were divine, and on top of that we all had trays in our room with more home made biscuits. Our rooms were all lovely, spotlessly clean with modern bathrooms. My elderly Mother was in The Cat, which does not have an en-suite bathroom, but it is only a few steps along the landing, and she was quite happy, although in fairness, we were all family and friends. We laughed at the wardrobe - which is old - and has a message on it to the effect that it is awaiting refurbishment, but the shelves and hanging rail are all there, so what's the problem?! As you can tell, we were all very happy, and hope to return some time. Great location, and Tracey was such a good hostess and so friendly, so lots of information about the area. Look at their website and book direct, you will not be disappointed!

It was really nice to be able to have your family to stay and it sounds like you all enjoyed a great take away. The house really lends itself to gatherings and I hope that you will pass on the idea of renting the whole house on a self catering basis for friends and family get together's.
I have already received a booking from your recommendation and look forward to meeting your friends soon.

I like the Cat and Fiddle room too. Its comfortable and the shower is great. Sitting around in the morning at breakfast and enjoying all the guests stories as they share their experiences of the forest and stories about who they have met and where they have been is one of the nice things about that big breakfast table. I think being on holiday is all about new adventures and sometimes you miss things so hearing about places from other guests is such fun. I do hope you will come back soon and do remember to take advantage of the returning guests discount when you book through our website
Kind regards

We stayed at the Blacksmiths House for 2 nights in "the Ducking Stool" room. Very clean and tidy, lovely biscuits in the room and cakes left in the dining area. Breakfast was great and it was good to meet and chat with other guests as well as Tracey the owner. Very central to all amenities in the village and the pub and restaurants were all within walking distance. Will definately go back and recommend to all my friends!!

The house is really well located to make the most of a holiday or short break in the New Forest walking or cycling is on the flat in this area and you have so much to go and see. Just in the forest you have the opportunity to see deer and ponies cattle and birds. The more commercial opportunities of Beaulieu and Exbury not to mention Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Salisbury and Southampton just a short drive or train ride away. Brockenhurst offers so many different places to eat and drink you could stay a fortnight and still have more places to go.
I hope we will see you again soon and remember to take advantage of the returning guests discount which you can share with firends and family who book through our website
Kind regards
Tracy

- Great location - close to several pubs& restaurants and very close to local train station
- Great accommodation - lovely premises with traditional fixtures and fittings. Clean rooms, sympathetically decorated
-Lovely food - free home baked biscuits and cakes available 24 hours a day. A variety of food available for breakfast e.g. salmon, home baked bread, meats & cheeses, cereals etc. Full English breakfast is to order and is great!
- Homely atmosphere - the dining room set up encourages a home-from-home social setting. Tracey was very friendly and attended to all guests' needs and often provided local knowledge, tips & advice

A warm welcome from Tracy when we arrived was a great start to our 2 night stay. Delicious baked goods available, including shortbread on the tea tray in our very comfortable room is just one of the lovely touches provided to make your stay a happy one.
The choice of food for breakfast is abundant and very tasty, with fresh tea and other beverages made to order when you sit down to enjoy the happy atmosphere with other guests.
Everyone was made to feel very welcome and Tracy is happy to share her extensive local knowledge of attractions, pubs and restaurants with guests to further enhance their stay in the New Forest. Hope to return to The Blacksmith's House in the near future and can highly recommend this lovely B&B.

I would highly recommend this quaint B&B in Brockenhurst, 5 mins walk from the station (direct train from London) in a very cute town. The owner, Tracy, went out of her way to make my boyfriend and I feel comfortable and "at home". Her breakfast spread is fantastic and she even encourages you to pack a little lunch to take with you during the day. There are always cakes and scones downstairs in case you get hungry, tea in your room and Tracy is full of good advice for things to do. We hired bicycles and cycled though the forest one day, spent another day walking through farmland, marshland and along the coastline all the way to an amazing pub called The Gun Inn in Keyhaven. We had a great time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place or Brockenhurst.

Thank you for your review and for recommending the Blacksmiths House. It was a pleasure to have you to stay and I was so pleased you found your way to Keyhaven. Its a great walk along the edge of the Solent and Keyhaven is a very special place. My old school friend is the owner of the Gun and she and her husband run a very good pub, full of irrasable locals who love to entertain the visitors.
Don't for get to pass on your word of mouth discount for friends and family, who book directly by phone or through our website
I look forward to seeing you again soon
