My finance', his little girl of 6 and I stayed for four nights in a family room at the Forest Park. The room itself was quite small for a family room but contained a double bed and two singles. We had a good view over the garden including what was the swimming pool which has now been filled in (see my photo). The beds are warm but mattresses too soft so we all slept quite badly and woke up most mornings with backache . The room itself very floral and in need of an update. The bathroom was clean but there was mold in the grout around the bath. Basic TV facilities included together with a kettle and tea/coffee replenished everyday (aside from the day before we left). Bathroom toiletries were half used and not replaced per set of guests.

Staff friendly and helpful re check in, dinner reservations and check out. Breakfast was included in our rate save the child's breakfast which we were unaware of on arrival. This was charged at £5 per day. A lot for a bowl of cereal and some raisins. Choices were limited for the non cooked breakfast option to 3/4 choices of cereal, white/brown toast in a rack (not replenished when finished) some melon, nuts and raisins, fresh white/brown bread and tea or coffee (also not replenished). This was charged at £6.95. Cooked breakfast option charged at £11.95 (a lot).

Location good but the hotel is on a main road into Brockenhurst. The parking is limited at the front of the hotel and is first come, first serve and is free. We ate only in the bar and the food nice but a little overpriced for portion size. We looked at the restaurant menu but it was too limited, again overpriced and nothing suitable for children.

We used the Forest Park Hotel because we wanted a good value base for our family holiday in the New Forest. Based right in the middle, near Brockenhurst village, The Forest Park Hotel was ideal. The staff were friendly, the accommodation spacious and good, the breakfasts good, and the one evening meal we had at the hotel very good. No pool, as it has been filled in, but that wasn't a problem for us. The garden at the back is a nice place to sit in the evening with a beer or a glass of wine. We booked riding at the attached stables, which is obviously run a separate business, it would be good to have information in the rooms about prices/booking rides etc. My Mrs thought the bathroom could do with a bit more of a thorough clean, but to be honest I thought it was fine, more than adequate for my 'bloke' standards. We got a very good value for money deal too.

The hotel is wonderfully located on the edge of the forest walks and bike trails and only a few minutes walk from the village centre. Lovely garden and swimming pool and stables next door are convenient as well. The hotel exterior is lovely, but when you walk in, you can see the decor needs a lift. The restaurant has been updated and looks nice but the rooms and corridors look as if they have not been changed in 50 years. The family room we had was huge and great value. Bathroom facilities all worked but were so old that even when clean, they still look dirty. Beds are old and still have old bedspreads on them, something as simple as changing these to plain duvets could add a lift. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakast was okay.

The staff are pleasant, polite and helpful.
Our room was spacious, clean and well furnished with a on- suite and tea/coffee making facilities.
About a 15-20 min easy walk from the train station at Brockenhurst to the hotel, there is car parking at the rear of the hotel.
Step out of the hotel and your are in the New Forest.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel, have a lovely veiw of the grounds.

Reading some of the reviews I was a bit worried - but need not have worried at all.
Just got back from a short holiday with my Sister and our grandchildren (2 both aged 8).
Hotel was lovely and in a wonderful location. Yes a bit shabby here and there but it is an old building. Staff were great, Our rooms were nice and we had french doors into the garden. Food was good. Would have liked with a bit more choice of Breakfast cereal for children, but they certainly enjoyed the cooked breakfast, as we did. The hotel could do with a play area and some play equipment in the beautiful garden, but our grandchildren made friends and played quite happily. We all went horse-riding at the adjoining stables and had a brilliant ride. They cater for all ages and abilities. Plent of escort riders that during the ride took you off for a trot and canter if you could ride and wanted to. The Grand Kids loved it - as we did. We will definately be going back.

met up with a group of friends for a drink in this hotel, had not been for over a year, what a dump and overpriced, £5.00 for a glass of warm white wine, 3 of the party tried to order bar food (just sandwiches and chips) it turned into a major incident. As for the barman (previously named), I cannot get my head around why anyone in this trade would employ anyone like this, surley and uncommunative were his good points. When the 'food' arrived we had to go and find a member of staff to get napkins and forks.
we collected our glases up and took them back to the bar at the end of the evening, did not even look up from the tv never mind a thank you. As we left we said goodnight to the receptionist, but she was too busy looking at the computer to acknowledge us.
It came as no surprise that there were very few cars parked there, must have all been staff. I was so disgusted that I checked tripadvisor just to see what other people said about it.
I come from totton, please anyone wanting to visit this beautiful area, DO NOT STAY HERE, places like this make me ashamed, I dread to think what anyone visiting from overseas would think.

A lovely 5 day break spent in a hotel with comfortable rooms, beautiful surroundings and attentive (though never intrusive) service. Breakfast was included in the price of the room and was invariably an enjoyable and filling experience. We ate Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent in terms of both quality and value. Many happy hours were spent sitting in the huge, well-kept gardens drinking wine / cider from the bar.
The hotel is generally looking a bit tired in places and could do with a bit of a facelift, both in the rooms and the public spaces. For example the ensuite in our room was old fashioned and tatty although perfectly clean and functional, stair carpet was showing threads and wallpaper peeling slightly in places. Nevertheless we had a lovely time and will return in the near future along with our children and dogs.
