We stayed one night at this great hotel to celebrate my husband's brithday. In our party we had 4 adults and 5 children - the staff at the hotel managed to make it the perfect stay for all 9 of us. The hotel is fully worthy of its 4* rating without being overly formal - children and adults were able to relax and enjoy themselves. The rooms offered everything we needed, the pool and spa were wonderful and all meals - children's meal in the lounge, evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast were delicious with prompt and attentive service. What made this stay though was the customer service. All staff, from the initial booking through the reception staff, house staff and restaurant staff, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and went that extra mile to meet our needs. Thank you.

My wife booked this as an overnight stay and a quick break from a busy life. It was an offer with spa treatment included but unfortunately by the time we tried to book that there was no availability.
However, the hotel included dinner in the restaurant instead so no problem.

Great service on arrival and the receptionist was fully aware of the change so there was no need for explanation.

I had read the poor reviews regarding decor and sizes of baths, heating etc but to be fair, it's a big place. It's true that some of the hotel is a little tired, but other parts are excellent. This must be a forever task. But it was clean and warm and still good value so who cares.?

Our room was cold on arrival, so we came down for a bit of lunch and mentioned it. The problem was sorted straight away.
Yes the bath was small but not a problem. Yes the tv system is a little dated but there are plenty of channels.

Bottom line is, if you want to moan, you will find something to moan about. Me? I don't really care that the glasses came from ikea.

The staff were friendly and attentive.
The restaurant service was quick and efficient
The wine was a perfect temperature
The steak was excellent
The breakfast was just right.

That's exactly what we wanted from a short break and that's what we got.

We would have liked a few more days to be honest and no doubt we will return in the near future.

Thanks for the experience.

We stayed one night as part of a short stay in the New Forest between Christmas and New Year. We received a good welcome and the first impressions of our room were lovely. We ate in the restaurant and found the food good quality and the service was attentive, although there were some unfair complaints from a rather obnoxious couple who clearly believed they were entitled to their food instantly. The room had everything we could have wanted and the bed was extremely big and comfortable. A good stay in a prime New Forest Location.

Room Tip: Room 30 was a wonderful room in a super location. You can see the rooms on the website so look befor...

Very good hotel in a great location with fantastic views. The new Spa is very good with a wide range of treatments plus the spa staff provided a really high level of customer service. In fact we couldn't fault the customer service throughout the hotel. We really liked the website and it's option of being able to view the room before booking.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon about 12:30 on arrival the outside looked extremely exquisite. we were checked and proceeded to our rooms.

The rooms were large and had a double bed that had been joined by two single beds. The pillows were average and not overly comfortable.

The bath is of an extremely small size and takes ages to fill up.

There is heaters in the room but the room was Freezing of a night and there is a heater to plug in however is this safe to leave on over night.

The staff don't speak English apart from the suits everyone just stares at you and then points you t someone else.

The restaurant we used for breakfast: It took 15 minutes to explain what I wanted day one this was a success day 2 I got totally the opposite.

The pool facilities: The pool was mild not overly warm, the Jacuzzi was dirty and not very welcoming there is a soaking wet dirty carpet in the pool area.

Overall for what you pay this place needs a upgrade there is too much focus on laying the prices on so put some more effort into making the buildings outside cleaner as the views from the windows was not that pleasurable.

Sorry this will not be one I would ever recommend

I was disappointed to read your review of the Hotel. Taking your points in order
Your views on the hotel frontage are contradictory it either looks lovely from the outside or it does not. We agree that the outside is now in need of a repaint and this is scheduled for Spring this year.

Our beds are zip and link beds that have separate bases and the two mattresses are joined with a zip. These beds are very common in larger hotels as they offer the flexibility of offering a double room or a twin room. I am sorry that you did not like our pillows, we regularly change our pillows but am not sure what was wrong with them in your view, as you did not specify the problem i.e. too soft or too firm etc.

Regarding the temperature of the room, all our rooms have central heating and if it is particularly cold we will provide an additional electric heater to boost the temperature. These heaters are perfectly safe provided they are not covered. We have the facility to turn on additional boilers when it is particular cold and it is a shame that this was not done on this occasion.

To state that “the staff don’t speak English” is quite frankly both insulting and inaccurate. All our service staff speak perfectly adequate English for the roles they are undertaking. Like many hotels we do employ staff from a variety of countries – including, Poland, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Holland, Portugal, Philippines and I myself am from Germany. We also employ many English staff and they do not all wear “suits” to coin your vernacular.

If you experienced a delay in placing your breakfast order then I must apologise for this and any error that occurred the next day.

Our pool temperature is between 31 - 32 degrees centigrade which is more than comfortable and has not been criticised by any other clients. The Jacuzzi is cleaned daily and the water changed weekly, so we do not accept that it could have been dirty. The comment on the carpet is irrelevant it is designed to be used in a pool area and be wet and most people prefer walking on it compared to the hard cold tiles that surround the rest of the pool. You have to consider the walkway is used by clients accessing the gym or observers using the seating area and this is a safer surface for these users.

Your final point is extremely poorly worded but you seem to be saying the outside needs repainting and that the Hotel (in you view) does not represent value for money. Clearly you are entitled to your opinion. We always prefer it when clients discuss such views with us in person whilst with us but again this is your prerogative.

I needed a break from EVERYTHING so I went to this wonderful hotel and booked treatments for every day. (Massage, scrub, facial, reflexology.) The treatments aren't particularly cheap, but the environment is good and my beautician was helpful and experienced and friendly. My upgraded room was great, only let down by the noise of the aircon unit on an adjacent outside wall which woke me up at 6.30 both mornings. The noise in the evening didn't disturb me and it stopped about 11, I think. But the room was great - plenty big enough for one person, nice clean bathroom, kettle and complimentary hot drinks and biccies, The leisure facilities are good: exercise area with bikes, runners, weights, etc; swimming pool; jacuzzi; sauna. All very nice. The food is excellent, although some things are a little pricey for the amount you get. But you can have "bar food" (very good choices) or main restaurant menu (good lunch choices at £14.95 for two courses and what I had was delicious). Maybe the main restaurant was more expensive in the evening, or eating a la carte. Breakfast is marked down only because I like a light breakfast and there was too much "full English" for me without enough lighter options. Service was excellent. All staff were friendly, helpful and polite. I really enjoyed my stay and hope to return.

Room Tip: Choose the level you want to pay but don't ask for a specific room as they always try and upgrad...

We were attending a wedding at another hotel but booked one of the cheapest rooms here for two nights. On arrival we were delighted to be given an up grade. There was no view from our room but it was extremely comfortable and it was nice that it wasn't your bog standard hotel room layout. The decor in the hotel is an interesting mix of old and new reflecting its interesting history. The atmosphere was really laid back - lots of families and dogs, people chatting and reading newspapers in the attractive bar/lounge area. I don't think we've ever stayed anywhere so lively and friendly. The staff were all very courteous and helpful. Of course the situation of the hotel is superb; just a short walk into Brockenhurst and surrounded by the stunningly beautiful New Forest. Just one word of warning - we made this booking some months ago and forgotten that we had booked 'room only'. Stupidly we went down and had four extremely light breakfasts. We didn't need to eat breakfast at all - we had a number of meals arranged for later in the day! We were pretty horrified when we saw the bill at the end or our stay - an additional £50! For toast! Of course that was our own stupid fault. As regular travellers we should have known better.

Room Tip: Some rooms don't have views but this was clear when we booked.
