We were recommended The Pig by a friend and it absolutely didn’t disappoint. The best description I can give is something they offer: the hiring out of Hunter wellies! Hunter are obviously very prestigious and expensive with a real bent towards the ‘rural’. That’s exactly what The Pig offers. Not having any expectations, the bumpy drive way doesn’t give much away. When you see the multiple nice cars parked outside though you quickly realise this is a place that has something special about it. We got a drink in the beautifully appointed bar on some comfy sofas and nice dark wood bar. The restaurant is basically in the conservatory and has a real quirky feel. All of the tables and chairs are different and potted plants are lined along the wall! Could be a little ‘grandma’s house’ but they’ve achieved a high-quality finish with a rustic feel. Food was good. Possibly not quite worth the £16 for the pork loin but it was superb and ultimately you pay for the fantastic interior too. My advice; forget the money, it’s not too bad anyway and just enjoy the ambience.

Recently spent two nights at The Pig. Had courtyard rooms as originally were going to take dogs but decided against it. The rooms were beautifully furnished and spotless. However, the railway line behind the courtyard became a little irritating after a while but it was only a minor inconvenience.

The food, albeit expensive, is second to none. There were 5 of us eating one night and we all loved our choices. The venison was spectacular.

I cannot fault the staff. We were looked after the moment we entered the hotel. All staff very willing and very knowledgeable.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel.

Went there for lunch.
Great location, in wonderful surroundings.
A busy place.
Food was really very good. I had the goats cheese starter, which was excellent. As was the meat pie.
My fellow diners also enjoyed their food.
One issue, and I understand how difficult it is to get English speaking staff in the restaurant trade, but several times we all struggled to understand each other. Maybe this will come with time / training?
Not cheap, but overall worth a visit.

We visited The Pig for a birthday lunch and all felt thoroughly spoiled. The food was excellent as was the champagne! There are plenty of open fires and they kindly reserved a table for us after lunch to relax with a coffee. Everyone was friendly and I felt as though it was a home from home. If I had anything constructive to say it would be to give the staff a little more training. With such a lovely establishment to eat in, you do tend to notice more how well the staff are trained. Will definitely go again and recommend.

I booked a spacious room for the weekend of 7th Jan for my partners birthday. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to the Dog House, where there was a birthday card on the bed which was lovely.

The room was stunning, having everything we needed and wanted for a great weekend, including a wood burning stove. The grounds are stunning and it's great to walk down and say hello to the pigs!

We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the food is fantastic, as was the service. On Saturday night there was a box and card on the table containing a pig biscuit with happy birthday written on in chocolate. Given that I only briefly mentioned the reason we were going when booking, the attention to detail and thoughtfulness was lovely. On Sunday afternoon we relaxed in the lounge with wine and a selection of 'Piggy Bits' which was very nice, we could have sat there all afternoon!

All in all this a fantastic hotel with great food and staff, I can not wait to return. I can honestly not rate this hotel highly enough, 5 stars does not do it justice.

Room Tip: The Dog House - Amazing!
