Great hotel in beautiful New Forest countryside - the perfect location. Fantastic staff - very welcoming, polite and helpful. Room was amazing - very clean, good facilities and very cosy. Restaurant was incredible too serving up delicious food. An amazing experience. Would definitely visit again :-)

We stayed here for one night over the bank holiday weekend for our first wedding anniversary.

The grounds are stunning and we loved our room (Doghouse) you can bring your dog to stay with you in this room but it did not have a doggy smell and was lovely and clean.

The Pig states it is a restaurant with rooms and not a hotel and I would agree with this. The lady that checked us in was very welcoming and was so enthusiastic about the gardens and animals but when we checked out we were not even asked if we enjoyed our stay, we were just given the bill. This is not a big deal I know but a bit of customer service when paying would have been nice.

Dinner was lovely with very interesting ingredients but we did feel very rushed. The main course literally came out straight after our starters had been taken away and within 30 minutes of being seated we had two courses. We managed to get some time before dessert by telling the waitress we hadn't even looked at the menu so she left us alone. This was helpful as we could not have decided in the 5 minutes she had given us.

On a positive note we loved the mismatched cutlery and glasses, the cocktails were gorgeous as was breakfast and the interior design of the whole place was beautiful.

Overall I don't think I would stay here again, the husband said he would but I would have liked a bit more customer service. I am not sure that they were bothered with us staying over night...
Saying that I would definitely recommended this restaurant with rooms to my friends and family as everyone needs to experience a piggy weekend!

Got a last minute room after leaving Bournemouth on a two night stay. Room was lovely and spacious, great size bed, lovely bathroom, all super clean. We were in a courtyard room which had our own private reserved table to relax at which was great to keep eye on our toddler. The only problem was there was noise from room upstairs as they had a young baby and we could hear a lot of noise from them.

We ate in the restaurant and they were really accommodating with our little girl and the food was great, really fresh and enjoyable. Sat out in the courtyard after dinner with daughter as she didn't want to sleep but was happy watching the fire and we had a little chat with very nice security chap about some deer he had seen. Breakfast was great, the freshness and array of the cold buffet was fantastic and the little one loved being able to choose which chicken to get her egg from. The grounds and the gardens are beautiful, worth the stay for that alone and the gardener was really friendly and knowledgable. Had a spa treatment, very relaxing with a great therapist. Overall, absolutely loved it but would perhaps get a quieter room next time. Totally relaxing stay!

Havening been to the pig for lunch before and found it to be of a very high standard, I was delighted that we had managed to get reservations for a two night mid-week minibreak here for my wife’s birthday.

Arriving at the hotel we find that they are having some resurfacing works done and we have to take another route in to the hotel, so the front lawn is not looking its best. Check in was fine, but making myself understood in handing over the cake for bringing out later was a strain.

We were accommodated away from the main house in a sort of converted stable block, which was down some steps to the back. It was fine as the weather was very mild and pleasant, but I would not want to be traipsing back and forth to often in the rain!

I’m sure their web site would describe the rooms as ‘compact and cosy’ but ours was a bit pokey where they had jammed a four poster in at the expense of all else and it was difficult to pass one another getting back and forth to the open plan bathroom. To be fair the rooms were very well appointed and best use had been made of the very limited space. Also of note was the in room nespresso machine which got some good use.

We were a party of nine for the first night and going down to six for the second night so the big dinner was the first night. We had the semi private dinning room, the green room (off the end of the main dinning room) for dinner and were greeted with a champagne reception in the library.

The staff we very friendly, however at times the waiting on staff seemed a little out of their depth – the poor girl who served the champagne could barely hold the bottle. The skinny jeans and retro trainers are all very good, but need to be matched with proper staff training. This was underlined when the birthday cake arrived at the end of the meal with all the sparklers having already burned out. The kitchen door was less than 5m away.

I won’t go in to the food again here as I’ve already discussed it in my previous review, but suffice to say the food is still the best part of the package, with not just the piggy bits, but the locally sourced and grown produce being exceptionally tasty. Retiring for the night, the beds where very comfy and the night’s sleep was excellent.

Breakfast was a continental buffet with cook to order items available for extra, I’d recommend just the continental as this included ‘boil your own’ free range eggs which you do in a little vat on the dresser using coloured dipper and an egg timer. This takes away a little from the shock that even though its £179 a night, breakfast is not included. What further took away from the experience is that a couple had brought their over-tired and bratty child to breakfast and spent half an hour chatting and reading the paper while their unheeded progeny screamed like he gotten his foot caught in a bear trap.

I mentioned the child when we were asked how our stay was – the staff member who checked us out just shrugged. I can get shrugged at in a premier inn for a good deal less – and I’d get breakfast included.

We ate last night. Great service, fantastic food, sublime setting and attention to detail second to none.
In fact I was blown away by my dinning experience and as for value for money. 2 of us, 3 courses, drinks (no wine) under £100. Looking forward to an overnight stay next....

Stopped for two nights at The Pig. The hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings and if you want to get away from it all this is the place to stay. Room was a good size with a large comfy bed. The shower was excellent, the hotel offers massages but don't waste your money on this just turn the shower up full.
Lots of comfy sofas to sit on around the hotel to relax with a drink or two and good seating areas outside. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent and very busy. On our arrival at the hotel we had been reserved a table for our first night which was a nice touch. All staff very friendly.
If visiting this area will stop at The Pig again

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Pig is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment. It's really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden and everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef - they grow and find the food - the chef then makes the menu. The style is home grown in every way - breaking the mold of designed hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won't be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed. ... more   less
