I love it here, the wonderful hotel and scenery, the rooms are beautiful as are the public areas including the fabulous outside area with large fireplace. The food is outstanding. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient and make it a joy to visit. Cant wait for the next time!

We booked in for dinner and had a fabulous, locally sourced fresh and flavoursome meal with friendly and attentive service. We were lucky and there was a room going so we decides to stay to enjoy some drinks from the quaffing and puffing menu. The venue has an eye grabbing interior there is so much to look at its champagne for your senses. Fully recommended

I can see what the pig is marketed as a restaurant with rooms rather than primarily as a hotel, as this is certainly where the emphasis seems to lie. Our room was one of the snug rooms, small, but very nice. Beautiful shower, and a very comfortable bed.
However, we were somewhat disappointed that everything seemed to cost extra, and that nothing was cheap. Tea and coffee in the room was at no charge, but we felt, considering that the room itself was quite pricey, surely a bottle of water could be included in the price, not to mention breakfast, which was an extra £15 if you wanted anything cooked. I also resent paying about £16 for a main course in the restaurant, and then an extra £3.75 for a few potatoes to go with it.
The service was on the whole very attentive, but in the restaurant on the Saturday evening we felt staff were over stretched, when we had to wait 50 minutes for our main course.
We did really enjoy our weekend away, but came away feeling that considering the money we were paying we hadn't necessarily experienced good value.

Room Tip: Our room over the courtyard was very noisy at night.

We thoroughly loved this hotel and it's country charm. The rooms were very comfortable with a nice big king size bed. The bathroom had a rain shower and a big deep bath. Original floorboards throughout the bedroom and bathroom adding to its charm. Comfortable sitting rooms to sit and relax and read a book. Lovely bar and restaurant. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant.
I would like to thank all of the lovely staff for making our stay so wonderful.

Based on rave reviews about the food, we stayed Saturday & Sunday in a small double room at about 170gbp/night.

The room itself was the smallest in the hotel but more than adequate and simply/tastefully decorated. All other rooms including the bar and the conservatory/dining room were impressive and well thought. Staff attitude / level of service ranged from good to excellent.

The problem we had was on the first night, we were suffocated in our room with strong kitchen smells and didn't sleep at all. The response was ok and we received ready advice to combat the smell and a bottle of champagne, which I suspect is offered to all guests who stay in that room. No problems the next night to be fair.

Overall whilst the food and service were very good and surroundings were pleasant I think over-rated and over-priced. Beckford Arms and Red Lion, both in Wiltshire, are directly comparable in terms of food, design, location and for me they represent far better value.

Room Tip: avoid room 10

I cannot praise this place too highly, it was simply lovely! Everything was perfect from the location, the decor, the food, the service... I can't think of a single thing that could be improved on. It is quite pricey, but I think you get what you pay for and this is a really special place to visit. We went to the Pig for a celebratory lunch, so can't comment on the rooms, but if they're anything like the main areas of the hotel then I'm sure they'd be excellent. I would recommend this highly as a place to visit.

We had a lovely couple of nights here over Easter weekend. The hotel is lovely - great ambiance, lovely surroundings, rooms finished to a very high spec.
Given that the focus is on the restaurant however, we were slightly disappointed by the food. Nothing wrong but fairly average food. I had the beef 'salad' for main course and my husband the steak. Both dishes fine but we'd expected much more from what we'd heard.
I would definitely go back to the Pig, probably ordered differently in the restaurant though - the hotel and surrounding areas are worth the trip.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Pig is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment. It's really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden and everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef - they grow and find the food - the chef then makes the menu. The style is home grown in every way - breaking the mold of designed hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won't be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed. ... more   less
