Took my husband here for his birthday and we had a lovely evening. The patio area is very chilled and a great place to start the evening. We had a lovely local beer. Moving through into the restaurant, the setting in the conservatory is very nice. My only complaint is my pet peeve of serving everything on trendy boards. Please stop! This does not work and I spent most of my meal jostling my food back onto the board. Having said that the food was very good. We moved back to the bar and had coffee and chocs near a roaring fire which was very cosy. Would highly recommend for something a bit different in a lovely setting.

What a beautiful place! Not only is the hotel and it's grounds stunning, but the staff are fab, the food is delicious and the room (we stayed in the Pig Sty) was excellent!
It was a lovely place to go for a relaxing night away. The hotel sits in it's own grounds where you're free to explore the kitchen garden, where we actually saw the chefs picking ingredients for the evening meal, the chicken coop and the pig pen. There is a train line on the other side of the chickens/pigs, but the noise doesn't really bother you.
The menu is well crafted and has something for everyone. The staff are very friendly and exceptionally well presented!
Would certainly recommend to anyone!

We celebrated my 70th birthday and it was a perfect evening. Warm and relaxing welcome. Attentive but not over powering service. Menu perfect and Gluten Free for my wife not a problem. Perhaps one detail, we asked for olives which were served in a dish with no "Picks", so ended up with oily fingers and olives dancing around the table. We had a fun and relaxing evening. Would love to spend a night at the hotel.

Room Tip: Arrive early and look around the garden and grounds

We stayed overnight before driving to Southampton to board a ship. Excellent welcome as we arrived, Room 14, bit dark but very well appointed. We had a problem with the coffee machine and immediately a new one arrived. Drinks before dinner excellent atmosphere in the bar. Dinner was splendid, great choice of courses, Dorota Zebrowska is a star as the restaurant manager and the staff in the restaurant are charming . We asked for a double sheet as the room was very warm and a duvet seemed over the top, that arrived quick as a flash.
Breakfast was fine the poached pears and yoghurt particularly good.
The gardens are a delight and the staff there knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel has a touch of Crosby Street hotel, New York about it with a shabby chic overlay. Some of the chairs in the restaurant could do with some maintenance ! We suggested that bolts be installed on the wooden bedroom shutters to provide some security if, on warm summer nights, one wished to leave the outer glass doors open.
All in all, a great place to stay.

One of the best places I have ever been to.
Great atmosphere, great food and the staff were very welcoming!
Lovely grounds, beautiful to be able to walk through their gardens where you can see all the produce.
Would love to stay the night and experience that!
You must visit The Pig - we'll be returning for sure.

From the friendly welcome & relaxed wander through the garden to arrive at the potting shed my expectations were high. I had the best 2 hours well-being ever with the signature treatment. Heidi was really fabulous & gave a really intuitive experience - thank you!

We came here at lunch time for a birthday treat for my husband.
The food was fantastic; beautiful flavours and fabulous presentation. Good selection on the menu and love that it's ever changing, depending on what the forrager comes back with.

The locally sourced ethos is brilliant and the info on the back on the menu tells you a bit more about where your food has come from. It's a shame that more places don't do this. Personally I'd go a bit further and only have wines from the local vineyards on sale, but I realise they want to offer the customer a choice.

Fairly relaxed in the restuarant at lunch which was nice. The place was bustling, but didn't feel rushed & we enjoyed our coffees in the bar. Shame we had to leave to go and do the school run, but will definately be back!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Pig is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment. It's really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden and everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef - they grow and find the food - the chef then makes the menu. The style is home grown in every way - breaking the mold of designed hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won't be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed. ... more   less
