We decided to take my daughter out for a celebration of her birthday so my family booked a late afternoon high tea at this wonderful New Forest hotel. The surroundings are magnificent and the hotel itself is a great mix of old and modern. We sat out in the new lounge area where we were served a wonderful high tea. Sandwiches, a cream tea and cakes were plentiful. The service was superb with nothing too much trouble for any of the polite and courteous staff. Unlimited supplies of hot drinks fuelled us through the evening. We were not rushed just left to relax, enjoy the surroundings, fine food and some family time.

We booked one night away at Careys Manor on a Saturday. We waited a long time to check-in whilst a member of staff stood next to us doing nothing. A very poor first impression. The room was very pleasant, spacious and clean.

The bathroom was poky with an under-powered shower. Toiletries were nice.

The spa was OK but certainly not as luxurious or special as we'd been led to believe. The entrance to the spa also involved a short trek across something like an underground car park - dark and dingy - which didn't help. The staff were very helpful and polite. It was good to have a pool to actually swim in, but there weren't enough seats/beds to relax on.

Le Blaireau was great. The staff were attentive, helpful and polite. The food was really good, but the service was quite slow and we waited quite a time between courses.

Breakfast was buffet-style - fruit, yoghurt, cereal, cooked items. It was all OK, but nothing special and could have done with more 'continental style' things (cheese, salami, bread, smoked salmon). Staff were helpful.

On arrival we were a bit confused as to how to get to reception from the car park and ended up walking miles - might of been us but I suspect the signage could do with being updated. Fortunately, a member of staff found us, took care of the luggage and guided us to reception. Check in was smooth and we were happy with the room. Unfortunately, our plans for a relaxed, quiet stay were torpedoed by the presence in the garden room area of a hen party of 13 who were hitting the booze by 3pm. The bride to be was in the room directly below us and they were all congregating on her patio area. One cannot blame the hotel for this of course and the good thing was as soon as I rang reception to explain the situation we were immediately offered another room and given help to move. So full marks to the staff, all of whom we found to be polite, helpful and friendly - a strength of the hotel in our opinion. We dined in the Manor Restaurant and the food and service were very good. We also used the spa facilities which we enjoyed. Afternoon tea was quite expensive but excellent. The bed was very comfortable, the room large and comfortable although the décor was a bit jaded. Good shower, lovely soft towels and good range of products in the bathroom. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and would certainly return in the future not least because it is a great base for exploring the beautiful New Forest.

Room Tip: We stayed in the garden room area which is lovely and on the ground floor you have your own patio.

Carey's Manor is a lovely hotel in the New forest. It has an excellent Spa with a great range of personalised treatments and lovely pools. Attached to the Spa is an excellent Thai restaurant with tasty, interesting food. The hotel itself has comfortable and large rooms, decent sized en suits with very nice toiletries. The restaurant is excellent - really top class food with attentive service. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was equally good and plentiful. The hotel is in a really good location in the New Forest, just on the outskirts of Brockenhurst, which allows easy day trips before returning for some superb supper.

Room Tip: All as good as each other

It was impressive to learn that you do not need a motorcar! Travel by train ( Brockenhurst Station is just along the road ) and the hotel will not only collect you, but they give you a discount, for not using a car. This is a handy hint, as the New Forest can become a little crowded at holiday time.
The hotel is very comfortable, the Spa is worth a visit as is the swimming pool.
For those who want a restful getaway with top knotch service and food, look no further, and with three restaurants to pick from, what could be better.
As a after note, the bar, is well worth a visit, especially if you like a good single malt!

Room Tip: The older part of the hotel is full of character, I have only stayed in the newer part once, and tha...

Excellent spa facilities, lovely staff and great food in all three of the restaurants. The only problem we had was that there was a christmas party on one of the night we were there and some of the people attending were staying at the hotel - unfortunately a few of them found it fitting to be shouting and slamming doors at 3am in the morning. I complained to the manager the following day and he was very apologetic and did not charge us for that night's stay.

stayed here a few times and, with one exception (I clearly got a very grumpy young lady on reception!), the staff are very pleasant. Hotel is set in beautiful surroundings, rooms are OK without being spectacular and the food is pretty good (not exceptional but pretty good). Never done dinner in the main restaurant as the Fusion Asian style restaurant is perfect for my tastes and hasn't disappointed so far. Spa is lovely and the pool is great to swim lengths or relax in. Good night's sleep and plenty of room and mod cons in the bathroom. Fairly priced given the location in the middle of the New Forest...great to hire bikes in the village and have a tour around.
