“spa day at Bath House Spa/New Park Manor”
Reviewed 31 January 2012

There were three of us who went for the day and all booked a treatment in the spa. Overall, we had a really lovley day and some aspects were excellent, i.e. the food and the treatments.

Main diasppointment was fthe lack of space inside the pool area, i.e. with three of us there was no room for us all to sit togther. As it was a very cold day, we could not sit outside.

We were shown round when we arrived but not informed of relaxation area. Lunch was lovely but not informed that fruit juice was not included.

On leaving, we gave some feedback to the person on reception, i.e. that we should have been informed about drinks not included and that the person showing us round was a bit rushed and did not tell us about relaxation room. She said this was a "training issue" but did not apoloigise to us. It would have made all the difference rather than leaving with a sense that we would not come back. I suggest she needs some training in customer service.

Thank you for your comments in regard to your spa day with us.

I am so pleased that your treatments, along with the quality of food, were excellent however I do apologise that
the customer service you received from our front of house staff didn’t reflect the same level of service.
This will be addressed with the team and is not our usual high standards that we strive to achieve.

In regard to space around the pool hall; we are currently looking at making improvements to Bath House Spa
and although we are limited with space around the pool, we are looking at introducing more areas to relax
within the spa area.

I hope that you will return to us soon.

ummm, where to start. Website is somewhat misleading; as the photos of the hotel/facilities look splendid and in reality are overdue for a much needed face lift. Food was pretty good (recommend the french toast). Staff were mostly friendly, although they are clearly understaffed -- as three to four employees were often seen literally running to and from during mealtimes. Unfortunately, they tout that bikes are available to rent but unfortunately had none left when we arrived (and I overheard the same story for another couple). Also disappointing was the childish lying of the concierge - who forgot to call our cab for our return to the train station - who then tried to cover it up by telling us the cabbie had a flat tire while en route to get us. Not only did she seem somewhat unharmed that we may miss our train, when asked if there was a hotel vehicle to quickly drop us (it's only a five minute drive) she said no. Luckily, we made it to the train -- with the cabbie who told us about Madam's little white lie! Definitely check what room you've booked. #15 is the smallest in the hotel and not worth the money. The spa was more or less relaxing. Best part is the outdoor hot tube. But beware of rowdy children who can potentially crush any ability to relax. All in all, there is potential but maybe you want to wait until they get their stuff figured out.

Had a spa day with my daughter between Xmas and new year as a present.
On arriving given medical questionnaire to fill in and free coffee and shown all the facilities and booked lunch which was not included in package and also a time for our cream tea which was included.
I just relaxed by poolside whilst my daughter used the gym till 11am for our full body massage which I really enjoyed and then taken to their relaxation room which was very restful.
We had our lunch and then after an appropriate time we used the foot spa and then swimming pool. Nice sized pool but a bit on the cold side.  By this time more people had arrived and also hotel guests.  We tried the Canadian hot tub for half an hour which is situated on outside terrace. Recommended. Champagne could be ordered extra cost.
On returning back into pool area the 5 loungers were being so no seating available. I had 2 more foot spa's so I could sit down whilst my daughter used the solarium and sauna.
We then showered and changed and went back to the reception/ cafe area for our scrumptious cream tea 2 scones each with cream and jam washed down with a pot of tea.
I really enjoyed the day and the only down side was lack of seating in pool area.

Great place to explore the New Forest from. Staff are friendly and helpful. We were able to hire bikes from the hotel and ride through the forest and into the local towns. The hotel food is really excellent! We loved the spa, especially the hot tub on the decking outside where you can drink champagne and watch wild deer and horses walk by. I would love to stay here again.

We booked the New Year package in fear and trepidation as some of the reviews are less than kind. It transpired that our experience was clearly very different from these negative reviews. New Park Manor Hotel is delightful. It is what it says - a Manor Hotel. It is tasetfully decorated with many period features. Our room was very comfortable with a superb view across the New Forest. It had everything we needed for a one night stay. If we were booking for longer, I might go for a larger room. The staff are very attentive and helpful without being obsequious. The food was excellent. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order. The overall package for New Year cost us £400 (+ wine) which we thought to be extremely good value as we had considered several other more expensive options.

This hotel has recently joined the Luxury Family Hotel group (owned by Van Essen - which runs Clivden...) so I expected something of similar quality to four of the other hotels in this group which I've previously enjoyed visiting. Alas, it is nowhere near the same standard. Parts of our bedroom were shabby and there was little sound proofing, so we were kept awake until after midnight by a neighbour's TV. The hotel did not feel fresh or luxurious and, being next to a run down equestrian center, had an air of disrepair. Why bother with a helicopter landing pad or bathroom TV if the piping of the towel rail is repaired with insulating tape and the hair dryer filter is dirty and smells when used? The restaurant staff were pleasant but far from efficient, and something was always unavailable from each of the menus we chose (including croissants by 10am - the closing time for breakfast). The SPA facilities were good and clean and went some way to giving a special aspect to the hotel, but not enough to make it good value for money. There is however, great potential, given the excellent location.
We hired bikes at Forrest leisure & cycling, Ringwood, and had a great day out in the New Forrest.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to New Park Manor, a luxury family and dog friendly spa hotel in the New Forest. Relax in our spa, play croquet on the lawn, enjoy afternoon tea on the terrace or some family time in our gardens. New Park Manor offers the perfect destination for anyone wishing to explore and appreciate the unique mosaic of woodland, heathland and wetland that comprise the ancient landscape of the New Forest. The New Forest, Britain's most popular national park, was created by William the Conqueror in 1079 as a royal hunting area. In 1611, King Charles II chose New Park Manor as his favourite hunting lodge and his royal coat of arms is still displayed prominently above the fireplace in our award-winning Stag Restaurant. New Park Manor was carefully adapted for use as a country house hotel with 25 bedrooms and opened in 1970. Interesting details such as acorns and oak leaf patterned doors and original furniture and fireplaces can still be seen throughout the building. These commemorate the debt owed by King Charles to the oak tree which hid him from Cromwell's men on his escape to France in 1651. Today, New Park Manor is a beautiful, stylish country hotel, where the traditions of days gone by still live on and many original features can still be seen around the hotel. Bedrooms range from the splendor of our Muntjac our signature Family Suite to the contemporary style of our Forest rooms. Over recent years, our facilities have expanded to include a heated outdoor pool, croquet lawn, and our award-winning Spa which included a heated indoor pool and outdoor Canadian hot tub overlooking the New Forest. ... more   less
