“Birthday Treat for Mum - 76 years young”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2013

We were warmly welcomed by Christina and her team in mid July for a birthday with my mother.
Having previously stayed during March, when the weather was a little brisk - July proved to be hot but pleasant.
We took over 3 x rooms in total, my mother staying in a downstairs room with walk in shower as she could not use a bath. The stay was great, and the hospitality was faultless. A large fan was provided when the room became a little warm.
5 Stars.

First time to the New Forest and booked on the recommendation of a friend. Loved every minute. A picturesque b&b in a great location with horses roaming on the street. The Lodge was very clean close to three pubs in the village and a number of excellent restaurants. We stayed for 2 nights but regretted not booking a third. Arrived early on Saturday afternoon, a very friendly greeting and our room was ready. Well decorated, very clean, very welcoming and a lovely four poster bed in our room made this a perfect romantic getaway. We walked through the forest on the Saturday, a real back to nature experience, with Shetland ponies, horses, pigs amongst the many animals roaming free. Lots of cyclists around but we walked for miles and enjoyed every minute. On Sunday we caught the train to Lymington, a 10 minute ride away to have a look around this quaint village next to the sea, didn't realise that the Isle of Wight ferry went from here so with a being a lovely sunny October Sunday we took the ferry for a day trip to the IoW, our first time there. Lots more walking before returning back to Brockenhurst. Breakfast was fine and for evening meals we tried a couple of local restaurants which were also first class. Service at the Lodge was great so no cause for complaint in any way and in many ways it was the perfect weekend. Would definitely return and would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We paid a little bit extra for one of the bigger rooms.

We spent 2 nights here on a road trip and we were really pleased with this little place. Upon arrival we were met at the door and taken into the lounge for tea and cakes , which was very nice. I had booked us into the Exbury room which had a nice sitting area and a balcony from which we observed the local donkeys and ponies wander around the village green.
There are some steep stairs to get to the upper levels but overall a good place to stay in the village.

We had a two night stay here and very pleasant it was too. We chose this location as my husband was participating in the cycle sportive on Saturday morning. The restaurant was full at 8.00am on Saturday morning and I was the only one not wearing lycra! We stayed in "Wilverley" a downstairs room with a back door onto its own little patio area. This proved to be a convenient location for a picnic lunch in the warm October sunshine. There were thoughtful extra touches such as cake and fresh milk being available from the snug added and recommended local walk sheets. Breakfast both mornings was generous and included mostly local produce. We would return.

This was a suprise from my Husband as a wedding present. We was booked into the Rhinefield room which was great, really different how all the bed was made what looked like tree trunks. Hotel staff we really friendly and free cake and tea and coffee was offered to us as soon as we got there.

Breakfast in the morning was yum! Choice of whatever you fancied all the products were locally sourced.

Would recommend and go back.

Beautiful part of the country as well with great walks and scenery all round.

We booked for 2 nights the week before we went on the 25th september just after we got married as a short honeymoon break away. we got a warm Friendly welcome on arrival we stayed in The standing hat which was lovely, it also had a woodburning stove which we put on the 1st night after our 7 hour walk covering about 15 miles with a beautiful location. Breakfast was great aswell as all local pubs,we would definately stay at the cottage lodge again and would recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: If you want a romantic room this is for you.

Me and my partner stayed at Cottage lodge for 3 nights in September with our two dogs in the standing hat room. The room was immaculate and clean, the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much for them. The snug bar adds a very nice touch to the stay where there is the option to help yourself to drinks and leave your money in the pot. There are nice fresh cakes and fresh milk everyday which I thought was a lovely touch! We had a fantastic stay, the location is great. There is a couple of pubs up the road which are very good and dog friendly. The forester arms do great food and a nice pint!.
We will defiantly be visiting again in the near future, Christina is a fantastic host who goes out of her way to make sure your stay is perfect! And the breakfast is A***

Room Tip: If you have dogs the standing hat room is great!
