“visit to the Pig”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

after a pleasant late morning at Beaulieu taking in the variu motors on sale, we decided on a late lunch. Found the Pig by pure accident. We obviously had not booked so had to wait perhaps 20 minutes for a table. This we spent in the bar area with a glass of wine.
Service in the Restaurant was very good and our Waiter (Tom) was excellent. We were warned of a delay on my Wife's chicken dish when ordering but being in no hurry we had no problem with that. Food was very good although the "extras" I would have expected as being standard on the main courses. The bill was reasonable and our Waiter advised me that he had removed the cost of our bottle of wine "due to our having to wait for the chicken", an unexpected touch but showing good business practice. We will return again.

“Great food bad service.”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

After being seated at our table we had to wait a while for our drinks order to be taken, then we waited for at least 30 minutes for drinks to be served. The waiter served the wrong wine so it was about 45 mins before we had our first drink. So pre lunch drinks didn't really happen. The food was delicious although there was a mix up with the order so 1 of our party had to wait while they got the correct meal for her. It was a very relaxing afternoon but I have to say the service left something to be desired. They also ran out of the particular wine we were drinking. It wasn't a cheap lunch but when we complained about the service the waiter didn't really seem that bothered.
Did not live up to expectations or it's reputation.

Very poor service - too fast. It felt like they Just wanted to get us out even though we were only offered 9.15 to eat. We were staying in the hotel but that doesn't seem to guarantee a table.

Visited here earlier this month on a Monday afternoon and the place was pretty much fully booked. The waitress who's name was Lauren I believe, was genuinely one of the best and most sincere waitress' I've ever had. She managed to get us a table after we had a drink In the bar. Everything about this restuarant is perfect, from the rustic, well thought out decor to the little touches like freshly baked bread you get on being seated. The food was beautiful and the gardens are a great way to finish your visit. A sublime restuarant worth all of the hype.
