This was our second visit to The Pig and it was just as wonderful second time around. Firstly, if you haven't visited before its location is magnificent and the building stunning with beautiful gardens and well chosen sculptures in amongst the foliage. The staff are friendly, but informal, so although it is a 5 star experience, it doesn't feel stuffy. The restaurant itself is beautifully presented with an eclectic, shabby chic, French influenced style. It's the special little touches that impress: like smoked salt, rosemary scented olive oil in bottles and delicious butter presented in silver butter dishes on the tables when you arrive. A lot of the vegetables and herbs used in the cooking are grown on site, and you can tell. Our starters of home made tortellini with goats cheese, broad beans and peas was light, fresh and delicious and the New Forest blue salad with poached pears nuts and leaves....perfection. We both chose hake for the main with buttered Jersey Royals and a walled garden salad which was equally impressive. Pudding was a shared trio of rhubarb, fragrant, light and perfectly balanced. An utter delight....foodie heaven.
