Fantastic Hotel, 2nd time I have stayed here. Great rooms, great food and great location. Bus stops right outside hotel, if you dont want to walk into Bideford town centre. Lovely little town to wander about it. This hotel is also on the bus route to other places to. Would definately go back again.

We stayed at the Durrant house Hotel midweek break Monday to Friday with our Local coach Operator. The first thing we were asked was for a £1 Deposit on the electronic key to our room.
The Hoterl is quite nicely furnished and has all the posh bits like a spa and a pool and Gym . Buit they want £5 per night for a cot and to make a call on the inhouse phone was £1 per min. We did not hear a Devon accent among the staff although they all had English names but to be fair they were very efficiant. BUT THE PRICE OF DRINKS. ONE NEEDED AN EXTRA MORGAGE TO GET BY There were no drunks at the Durrant house. a bottle of Wolf Bass wine was £18.50 You exp[ect to pay corkage but good God that was realy taking a bite out of your ear. Cleaning : Towels left on the floor or in the bath will be changed NO my wqife had to go to reception to get clean towels.
The food I accept was all right for us old fogies on the coach party but the entertainment was Dire

Room Tip: No Comment

Hotel good, bedroom very good, food & staff good.Being on a coach tour we were put in the basement to eat, not as "posh" as main dining room, but no problem.
Very little going on in the evenings in the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel is rather a long way from the centre of Bideford. There is nowhere to go if you are without transport.

Room Tip: Had ground floor room overlooking courtyard with fountain. Very nice room but somewhat dark.

Just arrived back from a Majestic self drive to The Durrant. Hotel good, food good, bedroom good, staff good, felt sorry for the poor lass on the Sunday night who had to work behind the bar in the basement, she just didn't want to be there. Tried to make her smile, but no. And all this for £59 per person for 3 nights bed, breakfast & evening meal! Bargain. But why 'just short of perfect'? There were a group of line dancing stompers who took over the main ballroom for the entire weekend (notice on door saying Private Funtion) leaving everyone else to have their entertainment in the basement. No faults with the entertainment, in fact Simon on the Saturday night was world class. But the basement room was not ideal, split into two by a wall preventing having a decent view of the cabaret acts. We searched for the entertainment on our first night. It was advertised but not where it was to be held, and even the waiting staff did not know. Perhaps a notice stating that the entertainment was downstairs would have prompted more people. We had 6 people in our party and one night the guy entertaining asked us to sit on separate tables to make it look more busy! We never got to use the ballroom on any of the 3 nights we were there, hence 'just short of perfect'.

Stayed: March 2012
