“Very, relaxing stay.”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

We decided to go for a weekend at Hoops Inn after seeing a very good deal on Groupon. On arrival the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a standard double room with en-suite, which was finished to a really good standard with traditional features. The breakfast was very good quality both mornings.
We also eat at the restaurant in the evening and the food was very good and reasonalbly priced with a good selection.
All in all a very good stay, great location for exploring North Devon!

We arrived fairly late in the evening without a booking. We were welcomed in.
We wanted something light. I had soup which was delicious and HOT, and delivered with a smile. It makes such a difference when one is cold and tired.
My husband didn't want any of the evening menu but fancied a ploughman's from the lunch menu. It was produced, again with a smile, it was beautifully prepared with a good variety of both salad, cheese and ham.
The place appeared clean throughout.
I would strongly recommend this Inn.

Outstanding hospitality, food and service. Our visit to 'The Hoops' was to celebrate my sisters 40th birthday, the staff were so helpful, nothing was a problem for them and the quality of food and service couldn't be faulted. See you again soon. Thanks.

Me and my friends and family had the most wonderful Party and stay at the Hoops Inn. Thank you to all the staff and especially Karen who made us all feel at home, and i knew that everything was organised.
The rooms were all so spotless, clean and comfortable.Loved the Jacuzzi bath in room 2!. There were 30 of us eating a set menu. All 3 courses were so tasty and well presented, very tasty food indeed.Very tasty breakfast. It made a celebration with family truly special and memorable, and don't think my family wanted to go home.
Trying to think of another excuse to have another celebration there!
Thanks Hoops.

From the moment I telephoned and talked to Craig, the Manager, my husband and I (no not THAT couple!!) couldn't have had better service anywhere. My husband is disabled, but nothing was too much trouble, from putting us in the 'snug' for breakfast to helping him get down steps. We were given the family room as my husband needed a ground floor. well, it was enormous, fabulous bathroom two double beds, warm and cosy. We had dinner there that evening near a woodburning stove, brilliant. Breakfast was to die for, and such choices. We went for 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Every one of the Staff were so helpful and cheerful. One member of staff stood out however, and that was Deputy Manager Sarah Fellowes. She never stopped smiling, and nothing was too much trouble. What a lovely person! You haven't seen the last of us!!

Room Tip: Just ask.....they will do their best!

We'd just walked down to Peppercombe beach and back but weren't really hungry, we only really wanted something simple, maybe a sandwich and a pint, so we set off to find the nearest pub. When we came across the Hoops Inn. Given it was Sunday, they only had the Sunday Lunch menu on. ok - so we'll just have a starter. Well, they were superb, and by then we'd seen the other lunches going though, this combined with the fact that their special offer for two courses, made having a roast dinner something we couldn't resist.

Well, I don't eat Sunday lunch out that often, but I can put my hand on my heart and say I think this was the best I'd ever had. The roast beef was cooked perfectly, the roast potatoes and parsnips were spot on and the yorkshire puddings looked amazing and whilst being huge were so light they didn't overly fill you up. There was a broad selection of vegetables too. All in all. Superb.

If you're in the area and looking for Sunday Lunch, I wouldn't look anywhere else. We're here for a week and may well go back for an evening meal. Watch this space.
