“Stunning”

Stunning island, wonderful walks, peace and tranquility, plenty to do. Pub can get busy, but staying in a cottage meant we could choose to eat in if we wanted. Prices not as high as expected - good that businesses don't use the monopoly to the disadvantage of visitors. Would go there again in a flash.

“take no notice of the grumpy moaners”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

An absolutely superb experience in a land that time forgot. Superb accommodation, authentically decorated and furnished in the style of the period in which they were built. Great food at the Marisco Tavern and very friendly staff everywhere. A wonderful place to walk, eat, relax and get away from all the stresses of everyday life - including the TV! - with wildlife, views and the opportunity to make new friends with the other visitors who are invariably friendly and interesting.

Don't heed the grumpy so-and-sos that have given the island a low rating - if they'd wanted somewhere the same as everywhere else, they should have gone there instead.

A unique experience.

“Fascinating Magical Place - Go in good weather for the best experience”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

I have been here twice. The firs time the weather was terrible, the second it was sunny and wonderful.

I have seen seals, sea birds and porpoises sometimes follow the boat back.

Things to be aware of: avoid going if they warn of rough seas, I was stubborn and went and it was a very long boat ride home.

You can get to the end of the island and back but as a day trip I would recommend finding a good mid point spot if you come with younger children as completing the length of the island in order to get back to the boat requires a bit of speed.

I can't wait to go back. The only downside is I would much prefer to stay for a few days than a day trip because it's so hard to fit all the wonders into one day

“Puffin Island”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

Wonderful for its special wildlife like its Lundy cabbage, the wild ponies and the seabirds including the puffins. It is a pity there is no toilet facilities on the quayside. It is a long-ish steep climb onto the plateau of about 20 minutes. On a nice sunny summer's day this is good , but I imagine it would not be so enjoyable if there was a mist, rain or a strong wind blowing. Even with the big boat from Bideford there was still enough room on the island and the restaurant not to feel a sense of space and enjoying nature here

What an amazing day trip to Lundy - lots of wildlife, wonderful walks and outstanding scenery. Just wish we could've stayed longer - oh well, just gives us an excuse to come back again soon!
