“Superb location and excellent cottage”
Reviewed 1 September 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Walk just 400 meters from your holidaycottage and stand on top of the cliffs at 125 meters above seelevel, this is really magnificant. Just do this a few times a day. Looking to the left or to the right you only see beautiful cliffs that are not spoiled by buildings. Straight ahead you see Lundy Island. In the evening it is good relaxing in the very good furnished and looked after cottage. Totally there are four cottages. The owner lives there also and gives you a warm welcome.

“Third stay - will definitely return!”
Reviewed 1 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

The Southole Barns are beautifully situated in a very rural area. All barns are tastefully furnished with a lot of attention to detail.
The new owners are excellent hosts, always friendly, kind and going out of their way in order to make the stay as comfortable as possible.
Although we are the type of travellers who love to explore new countries and places, Southole Barns is a place we will definitely return to again!

“A nice place to be 'holed up”
Reviewed 3 April 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stayed in Clovelly Barn in the week running up to Easter. We had booked a few weeks before and were sure that the cold weather would have ended, and spring started. How wrong we were! It was bitterly cold the whole time we were there, but didn't stop us either walking the coast path or taking bikes on the Tarka Trail and Camel Way. As described before, Seldon is there to meet all new arrivals, with a cream tea and always keen to advise on where best to go.

The location of the barns is excellent, very peaceful location and just off the coast path and what amazing views from the path. We took Seldon's advice and headed North, but did one day risk the walk from Welcombe Mouth to Morwenstow - very hilly!

The barns are well equipped, a very welcome wood burner helped when the freezing winds blew. No bath but the shower room is fine except for a very small cloak room type wash basin with a cabinet above it which is a pain for 6ft 2ins husbands.

Nice to watch the ducks and birds in the garden, as well as the dogs on guard!

Overall very relaxing and hope to return in better weather.

“A very happy holiday had by all”
Reviewed 2 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

My husband and I just returned yesterday from a 1 week stay at Week St Mary Barn at Southole Barns and we cannot praise it enough. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed to a proper cream tea and lots of information on the area. The barn itself was decorated beautifully, and was very comfortable. At the top of the hill outside the barn was the coastal path and stunning views across to Lundy Island. The dvd/video selection available is a lovely touch and was welcomed for romantic nights in.

Thank you.

“Second stay”
Reviewed 1 July 2012 for a stay in June 2012

We stayed at Southoles last year and our second visit was just as good as the first. Seldon is a very welcoming and knowledgable host. The accommodation is of a high standard and has all you could need for your stay. The barns are located in a beautiful quiet area and you will feel relaxed the moment you arrive.
The area has more than enough to see and do, to keep any family or couple entertained.

“Lovely cottage in a peaceful location, run by friendly hosts”
Reviewed 13 June 2011 for a stay in June 2011

Seldon and Allison gave us a warm welcome and gave us much helpful advice on the local area, including which are the best local beaches and walks.

We stayed in the Greenway Barn, which was beautiful and to a very high standard with lots of wood and a nice log burner - very much what you'd expect of a quality cottage. The grounds and gardens gave a nice peaceful outdoor space to returnto at the end of the day to enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine. The upside barn was pretty much baby proof, with a stair gate preventing our 15 month old "tree monkey" of a baby getting carried away.

The location was just what we wanted: away from it all and quiet with lovely views of fields of cows and a short walk up the hill to stunning views of the atlantic. The cottage is reached off the main A39 Atlantic Highway by a 10 minute drive along single track roads that are pretty well maintained with plenty of overtaking spots. You will see lots of birds, cattle and sheep plus on the drive home on the last day we spotted a young deer scuttle across the road in front of us.

On the border of north Devon and Cornwall, Bude and many other places to visit and see are not far away. Leaflets are available in the communal room but Seldon and Allison are good for advice.

I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.
