“Best B & B in North Devon”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

Thank you Lesley for the perfect B&B. Your attention to detail, the comfortable bed, the beautiful setting, the home produced eggs and honey for breakfast all add up to a delightful stay. My wife said thanks for the magnifying vanity mirror and I wish to thank both you and Steve for the good company and excellent brandy. Hi to Drusilla, Delores and all the other egg laying girls, we hope to see you all again. Highly Recommended.

Lovely helpful owner, located conveniently close to the main road which gives easy access to Bideford, Barnstaple and the attractions of North Devon, but you feel completely away from it all in the rolling countryside.
There are two guest rooms upstairs which share a bathroom and a lounge dining room downstairs where breakfast is served. The owner lit a log burner in the evenings which was very welcoming.
Accommodation is not shared with any other guests so you can stay in a combination of one room or both rooms.
One bedroom has twin beds, which are wonderfully soft and comfy. I only wish the double room had an equally soft bed. Both rooms are really well equipped with TV, hair dryer, home made chocolates etc. everything was spotlessly clean.
There is a big shower room with plenty of toiletries and towels.
Breakfast was lovely and consisted of cereals and fruit and yogurts followed by a choice of fried breakfast or eggs benedict. As the owner keeps bees we had fresh honey every day which was wonderful. We even had a guided tour of the garden to see the beehives.
All in all we had a wonderful stay and are keen to return again very soon.

Thank you very much for your review following your recent stay. I appreciate your comments regarding the kingsize bed. It is a Vi-spring (great quality) but is a firm sprung mattress. I have decided to change it for a medium sprung as I am concerned that some guests will also find it too firm and this should suit most guests. As you mention, the twin beds are wonderfully soft!
Thank you for your views, if guests don't tell me, I can't fix things, so I hope your next visit will be more comfortable in the sleep department!
Kind regards
Lesley

What a great b&b. from the moment we arrived and the warm welcome we received from Lesley, not to mention the Devon cream tea, everything about Bideford Beehives was perfect. Situated about 2 miles from Bideford town centre up a very private narrow lane, the house is beautifully decorated and as we were the only guests there, the other twin bedded room was not let so the shared bathroom was ours alone.
The king sized bed was very comfortable and no expense has been spared in making this the best b&b I have ever stayed in. The little touches like the home made soap, chocolates and hand cream along with local produce for breakfast ( the eggs coming from the 6 hens that Lesley and Stephen kept out the back and the honey from the bees from their own beehives) made it all the more special and meant we left for the day hardly able to move!
We also had sole access to the beautiful lounge at night to relax with a Baileys or two!
I would recommend Bideford beehives whole heartedly to anybody and will definitely be back when the weather is a bit less blustery and wet!
Thank you Lesley and Stephen for making our weekend that much more special

Don't hesitate to book this B and B. From arrival to departure, you are treated like friends not customers.
A Devon cream tea after a long car journey is just the ticket, esp when sitting in front of a log burner in a most beautifully decorated room. My husband and I stayed for three nights and could easily have stayed forever. We were in the king size bedroom overlooking the gorgeous countryside, woke up to birds singing.
Breakfast was exceptional, fresh fruit salad waiting for us when we descended at a time to suit us, followed by the most delicious bacon, fresh eggs and mushrooms, not finished there it was topped off with the bideford beehives very own honey, on or off the comb. I cannot fault Lesley and Stephens hospitality and we left as friends. Please experience the Beehives at least once and see how it should be done.

We stayed here at the BeeHives for 3 days after reading good reviews on trip advisor. On our arrival we we met by Lesley whos a lovely helpful/friendly lady.We were shown to our lovely decorated room and asked if we'd like scones, fresh devon cream and homemade jam with a large pot of tea, she had got the woodburner going it was so cosy home from home, even got a paper to read..
Next morning we had fresh fruit salad, cereals, tea, toast, homemade marmalade, and the honey from her own bee's,we were asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast which we turned down we were quite full..I did try her full breakfast and a omlette all very good..
The bathroom is large and very light great shower homemade soap and hand cream from the bee's..There was no need to take shampoo or conditioner all was on hand. Large soft towels and bath robes are to hand, plus hairdryer.
Lesley was very informative on different areas of devon to visit.
On my last day after breakfast i bought soaps, lip balm, hand creams, from Lesley all of her own making from her bee's,
We had tea, coffee, orange cordial, water, home made date/chocolate bonbons, biscuits, in our room,tv, free wifi.extra blankets and towels on hand, lots of extra touches..
Well done Lesley we really enjoyed your b/b..12/10 xxxxxColin/Lynn.
