“A little piece of Heaven in Devon”
Reviewed 14 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

A beautifully clean well equipped cottage set in the heart of North Devon. The views were fabulous, if you closed your eyes all you could hear was the wind rustling in the trees and birds singing...occassionally interrupted by dogs barking (only to be expected as there were 11 there when all at home). Alison couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, , she was there if you needed anything but not at all intrusive.
The location is within easy reach of the most beautiful beaches such as Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Saunton Sands, Lynmouth etc. Most beaches have 'dog friendly' areas. If you are looking for somewhere to stay where the beach is literally on the door stop this is not the place for you, if you are happy to drive 20mins or so through lovely countryside then this place is perfect.

This was our first stay at Woodland cottages, we where very impressed. Alison and Tim where very friendly and we felt very welcome. We stayed in the Badger cottage, we being, my husband and our two rescue greyhounds. The cottage was comfortable light airy and clean well equipped .Surrounded by beautiful countryside. Plenty of information in the cottage of places to go. There was plenty of areas to walk and exercise the dogs. There where plenty of dog friendly beaches and walks around within 15 minutes car ride. Our favorite day out was Westwood Ho (we went twice) Coastal walk, rock pools, segregated areas for dogs. Beach restrictions displayed. Able to eat out every night at the local Hunters Inn 5 mins in the car Dogs are allowed in the bar while you eat or outside.Food and service was excellent . We have had a great week and will definitely go again.

We stayed in Badger cottage in October the cottage and grounds are fantastic. We took 4 dogs with us they loved it. No need to worry about letting them straight out of the gate very safe. The woods are lovely for the dogs to explore and a nice walk for us aswell. Badger cottage is beautiful and comfortable. Will be back next year. Tina and John.

for people who love to holiday with their best friends, this is certainly the perfect place, Cottage fully equipped for comfort with splendid views. The owners welcome pets as if they were their own. My two jack russells had great fun chasing about in a safe and dog-friendly environment. Highly recommended ..just open the door, relax and enjoy. many thanks for a great stay. “Lovely place to visit in lovely part of Devon”
Reviewed 8 October 2011 for a stay in October 2011

Had a fantastic time, the accommodation was very nice. all facilities were good & worked well and the place was full of character. Would be excellent for anybody with pets especially dogs with an area in front of the cottages to run around on and woods for longer walks. Will be letting friends know about the cottages and would be surprised if they don't take advantage. happy to reccomend!

“We'll definately be back again!!”
Reviewed 19 September 2011 for a stay in July 2011

We have stayed in the converted barns at Woodland Cottages four times now, twice in Badger Cottage, and twice in Swallow. Swallow Cottage is slightly more spaceous, though Badger Cottage has a wonderful character with a lovely wooden spiral staircase and little balcony overlooking the living area.
Al and Tim were the perfect hosts, and nothing was too much trouble. Ben the dog was a great hit with our children!
The views from all of the cottages are unbeatable, all the way to Exmoor on the horizon. Each cottage has it's own little enclosed patio area, with table and chairs and parasol, and it is very tempting to stay put and soak up the view and the sun.
But there is plenty to keep you entertained nearby, from the fabulous beaches of Westwood Ho! and Croydd, to the quaint character villages of Clovelly and Ilfracombe, and the far reaching open spaces of Exmoor and Dartmoor. We cycled for miles along the Tarka Trail from 'Puffing Billy' at Great Torrington to the beautiful little coastal village of Instow - a scenic route along the estuary - a dis-used railway line, so very flat. The children loved it, and I managed to keep up!
Such a beautiful, peaceful spot, so safe, it's great for dogs and kids alike. We can't wait to come back again next year!
