Through the gates the house and gardens looked fantastic, but it wasn't open on a Saturday which seems very odd considering it was a beautiful day. Perhaps we will return and see what it is like. It also seemed very expensive for what it was on the price list.

Had a day out at Sledmere house and gardens there was also a chance to have a guided tour of the garden and a pruning workshop on fruit trees by the head gardener. It was a very enjoyable day. The head gardener was very knowledgable and interesting. The new stumpery near the rose garden is still under development and is in need of signage as you wouldn't know it was there. There were some nurseries selling their plants which was interesting but there needed to be more of them as there were only 3 attending. I thought there would have been some bedding plants for sale as May is the perfect time to be buying them but they were not selling any I think they missed a great opportunity. Enjoyed looking around the house. The cafe was a bit pricey. Will come back again in the summer to see how the garden is developing.

My husband and I went to Sledmere house and garden for a day out. We were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and well knowledgeable of the place. There's car parking available on the site. We brought our food with us and we had a picnic. It was a grand day. It was a bright and sunny day. It's well worth a visit. Would highly recommend.

The house was lovely - it had a craft fair on too. We really loved the walled garden - nobody was in there but us - for no particular reason that I could see. I expect the gardens are going to be amazing this summer.

The Wagoners museum was interesting too.

Only downside is that the café service is extremely slow. Yes, it was busy - but i have been to busier cafés who serve you quicker. The queue went right out of the door at one point and we stood 15 minutes (yet we were inside the door when we arrived). There were not enough staff and they were too busy chatting! The cakes and tea were lovely though.
