We (2 adults & our 13 year old daughter) stayed at the kings head beverley overnight, we had a bit of difficulty finding the car park, & was even directed wrong by a policeman in the town, but we eventually found it.
On arrival we were greeted by a member of staff called Peter, he is a very nice man, & told us we could book in to our room at 2pm.
We ordered steak baguettes & a prawn wrap, they were very fresh & tasted delicious, my partner ordered coffee & this is brought to your table.
The bar area is really nice & modern, all of the staff although quite young, were very friendly & attentive, with smiling faces, & nothing was too much bother.
we were given room 11 which is at the front of the Hotel overlooking the market square, the room was very clean, & has a good size ensuite bathroom, the bed was very nice & there was flatscreen TV, tea, coffee, chocolate with kettle,, hairdryer, & iron & ironing board on request.
We ate in the dining room, & the food was very tasty, but a little noveau cuisine style, & a small portion for the money.
We retired to our room at 11pm & we had been told that you could expect to hear some music noise from downstairs (earplugs were supplied in the room) we did not though expect the noise that did emanate from downstairs, which was a very loud thudding of Bass music which went on well past 1.30am, even with earplugs in & pillows under our heads it was unbearable, we all woke on Sunday morning with headaches, which took the edge off our stay.
We showered at 8am after approx 5 hours sleep & went downstairs, where we met Peter the member of staff again, I felt we had to say something in a pleasant way, about the noise, he apologised & said he had not been on duty at night, but felt that there had been a stand in DJ on the saturday night who was overzealous with the volume.
We went in for breakfast & was pleasantly surprised at the choice we had, including full english breakfast included in the bill.
Overall the Kings Head is to be reccomended,
I do however personally beleive that after recently having a £800,000 refit some consideration should have gone into soundproofing the floor, against the incessant thrum of Bass music that penetrated our room, & you could feel it in your feet in the bathroom.
My partner said it was like trying to sleep inside a music speaker all night & we awoke not refreshed but with pounding headaches.
The Hotel is very competively priced & we would like to go back, but hopefully to a room we could sleep in peacefully.
