The couple running this farm are truly wonderful.
The rooms are big and the beds really comfortable. The bathroom and shower room are downstairs and there are two loos, but only one washbasin.
I advise anyone without a car to book a meal there. The cooking is good, and the pub a fair distance away!

Spent just one night here, the owners are very friendly and family-oriented. They took the time to show us round the animals they had (lambs, chickens, cows, pigs, geese and even peacocks!) both in the evening and in the morning, which the kids loved, it was a real education for them given that they are city dwellers! The buildings are interesting enough in themselves, original old stone barns etc, and the location is useful for visiting Teesdale, Weardale and the North Pennines. The breakfast was good, including the home-grown sausages. The only downside was the shared bathrooms, we didn't mind too much but the arrangements of the bathrooms could have been a bit better.

The owners can do evening meals I believe, but there is also a friendly pub with good evening meals just 10 minutes' walk away, the Langdon Beck Hotel.

East Underhurth - definitely recommended!

We stayed here whilst walking the Pennine Way and although it's a little way off the route is well worth it. We were made very welcome-tea and coffee available whenever we wanted and shown to a lovely quiet room. It is a working farm and lambs, calves and chicks were all appearing during our short stay-we could hear the chicks cheeping away in a nearby room which was lovely. There is no en-suite but 2 loos and a bathroom and separate shower were more than adequate for our needs. The lounge had a roaring-and very welcome coal fire and our evening meal was both tasty and hearty-as was breakfast. This couple work extremely hard at all they do to make a living-and we had a lovely stay-and would happily stay again when in the area. Thanks.
