Description: The Redwell Inn under the ownership of Simon Leadbetter has been steadily building a reputation as one of the best places to eat in Barnard Castle. The Menu fits well with the relaxed and informal surroundings. With plenty to choose from ranging from great quality steaks, burgers and fresh fish to more traditional English pub dishes and Desserts all created from fresh and in house by Head chef David Thornton and his team. Simon and the staff are always on hand to provide a friendly, personal and professional service to all of the guests. With 8 En-suite bedrooms The Redwell is a great destination for a short stay, either for a weekend break or for business. "All of the team endeavour to whatever we can to make our customers experiences at The Redwell a positive and memorable occasion." Simon Leadbetter.

“Good pub food & good ale (also residential)- open on mondays!”
Reviewed 27 October 2010

Really enjoyable meal.
A full menu and specials provided. We enjoyed lamb shank with minted gravy, and belly pork from the specials menu. Both were substantial well cooked and tasty, served on mashed potatoes with roast potatoes, and a selection of seasonal vegetables.
Service was friendly and quick, and our meal was washed down with well kept real ale.
It is not that easy to find places serving English food in Barnard Castle on a monday night, and, although a ten minute walk from the town centre ( up the hill, turn left towards Middleton in Teesdale, and the inn is opposite the Glaxo Smith Kline factory) it was well worth the stroll ( it has a large car park if you wish to drive.).
