Deborah and Brian are working in the right profession. Each phone call and the visit itself was a pleasure - such helpful, warm people. We visited for the Etape Pennines sportive. Deborah sorted out secure bike storage, got up incredibly early to feed us all breakfast in the dark, allowed us back straggling in through the afternoon for showers, despite having another set of guests arriving. Breakfast was superb. Facilities were good, but most importantly, the welcome was magnificent. These people are grafters, so everything is spotless.

My friend and I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful and welcoming couple. Only downfall was the fact we had to leave due to work commitments. This place is definitely a place to go back to. Hopefully that will be soon. The breakfast was superb. I have stayed in 5 star hotels around the world and this is by far a lot better as it's more homely. Well done Brian & Deborah.... A most enjoyable one night stay, We were made most welcome by Brian & Deborah.
Our room at the top end of the garden was super comfortable and well appointed as well as being quiet & cosy
We had an excellent breakfast to send us on our way plus a bag of ripe plums from the garden.
A guest house to be remembered and well recommended.

.

Room Tip: Choose the garden room!!!

My wife and I stayed here overnight while on a cycling trip. On the day we arrived, it had rained all day, and we were absolutely soaked. I was a bit anxious about arriving at the guest house like the proverbial drowned rat. However, Brian was really welcoming; he put all our wet clothing into the tumble drier, and made sure everything was dry for us the next day. After a much needed cup of tea and a biscuit, he showed us to our room which was spotless, and very comfortable. There was tea and coffee in the room, as well as TV and Wi-Fi. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic - a good range of fruit and cereals, and a BIG full English breakfast. All in all, it was a first-class experience.

Second visit to this gem, stayed in the garden room this time, just perfect. I agree with other reviewers the best guest house we have ever stayed in hence the second visit, definitely will not be the last. Brian and Deborah are the perfect hosts, room spotlessly clean, seriously comfy bed and a fantastic breakfast to start your day! There is so much more I could say but just trust me if your going to visit this area this is the place to stay. I guarantee you will agree with every other reviewer. PERFECT

Lovely B&B. Minutes walk from the town centre, plenty of parking right outside. Nice spacious rooms and bathrooms. We had two nights in the garden room, which, as its name suggests it’s at the end of the (nice) garden; extremely quiet. The hosts could not be more pleasant and welcoming. Breakfasts are fantastic – especially considering they only have a few rooms – and there’s even a newspaper to read. Evening meals and packed lunches can also be provided. There’s a small, but varied library and a few games available in the lounge for wet weather – and even umbrellas if you forget yours. Cant find a thing to criticise. One of the nicest B&B’s we have ever stayed in.

we stayed just one night at Homelands, It was the need of a change from the norm, bored with the television, fed up with the same old routine, I suggested we book a room somewhere and enjoy a day away. I am so pleased we decided on Homelands. We found it absolutely faultless! The room was lovely, cosey, and spotless clean. Brian and Deborah, our hosts simply could'nt be nicer. After a very enjoyable evening out in Barnard Castle followed by a very comfy nights sleep, we were served the most delicous breakfast, then a walk down the street and around the farmers market before a lesurely drive home! All in all, a very memorable change from the norm, and we will definately be returning to Homelands. Highly Reccomended! Thank you so much Brian and Deborah.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 2 which overlooked the garden. It was quiet and tranquil, Perfect.
